5E DM Training Session

Hey beginning DMs!! I am thinking of putting together a pre-gen session with several DMs who want to learn the mastery of Roll20.  We will be covering the following: Mapping 101 - how to align your maps to the grids Character Sheet 101 (Using 5e Shaped Sheet) Using APIs to enhance your game (Especially the character sheet Companion) Basic and Advance Token use (including linking them and how to make a multi-sided token) Lighting Effects (Fog of War vs. Dynamic Lighting and how to implement both) Basic Campaign Construction (start screen, having generic maps available, buying marketplace art, etc.) This will be a one shot 2 hour session with a 1 hour round table - up to 10 people each session.  I will do one session on a weekend and one on a weekday.  Everyone will be a co-DM so they can practice what I am showing you.  The best way to learn is by doing it yourself.. It's the least I can do for all the great help I have received from The Aaron, Roll20 Dev Team, and the various DMs that helped me along the way...

To get full use of some of these features you will need a Plus membership and to get the use of all these features you will need the PRO membership.

Great initiative! Let me know if I can be of any assistance with the sheet or script. I'd suggest being on the latest stable for sheet and script so users are used to it.

I have most of the topics covered well, but API still escapes my understanding. So I would for sure like to go for this part.

Extremely cool idea, I'd love to get involved with some of this myself as I have basic skills with roll20 but some of it still confuses me, not sure ill be able to fit the time frame (I have a lot on my schedule at the moment) though its always great to see people giving back to the community. Have you considered maybe recording for people to reference? Other than that thanks very much for taking the time and effort to do a GM roll20 101 and best of luck.

Through trial and error, I have learned all of this.  But if I was a new DM, I'd definitely be interested!

Putting the campaign together now.   It will be 2 hours long, but I will still be on for another hour to answer questions, etc. I will run this twice, once during a weekend night and the other during a weekday night.  I would like to keep each session around 10 people so I can be able to help them one on one, as needed.  Will be releasing times on my next post.  Please let me know which time slot (or either) works best for you and I will start sending out invites to the DM Training Campaign. I'm an experienced user and am not so interested in the 101 topics, but am really interested in upping my game with API usage (which I have so far avoided). If you ever run a session focusing on the API, I'd love to be involved.

This couldn't have come at a better time! I finally took the plunge and agreed to DM for the first time for a few friends.  Would love to participate in your training session(s) if there's still room. Thanks for taking the time to do this!

Let me know if you need some contributors, Black Falcon. I am all about helping empower potential GMs and hopefully closing the gap of everyone LFG here on Roll20. More GMs = More games = Less players out in the cold

I can't attend the Monday session, would the second session also be on a Monday?

Can I join that Monday session? I have a Pro subscription, and I want to learn more about the APIs. It's 10PM my time.

It sounds like you've got a lot of Pro subscribers looking specifically only for the API section of the training. Is there a time we could get just that segment?

This is for a full overview but I could do a specialized advanced course on API and Macros but would need to bring THE AARON to assist.
