Practicing GMing with Pathfinder Modules LFP

So here's the deal. I already run my own game in roll20 with some friends of mine, but it's not enough for me. I'd love to play more and improve my GMing skills (as well as get a better handle on using roll20). So, I would like to start running some Pathfinder modules and adventures to get better. (For those curious about my experience, I've played Pathfinder off-and-on for two years and have GMed two campaigns previously and one currently.) This would be tentatively set for Sunday evenings EST (starting February 3rd) but I am amendable to this; no Thursdays or Fridays and no mornings, however. So what do I need from you? ---A character sheet (preferably on <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/" rel="nofollow">www.myth-weavers.com/</a> ) for a Level 1 character using a 20-point build and up to two traits. Starting gold is the average gold for whatever starting class you use. ---Anything that is published by Paizo for Pathfinder is allowable; no 3rd party or 3.5 materials. ---Flavor text and character backgrounds are encouraged, but not necessary. If I get more players than slots (and I'm looking at 4/5 slots max), I am NOT instituting a first-come-first-served policy. I will be taking everyone under review. Don't be discouraged if I'm filled up as I will be keeping a number of players on a stand-by list (if you do not wish to be on the list please indicate so; I understand that not everyone will want to be a backup). If my schedule frees up some more, I may run another group. Furthermore, I consider these games rather low commitment. If you have to drop out, that's understandable. If you want to pass on a session, please let me know ahead of time so that I can try to contact someone else. What you need to know: I have played in more terrible games than good ones thanks to one person at the table ruining the dynamic. For this reason, I'm rather draconian about certain behaviors. The one rule I am a Rules Lawyer on is Everyone Has Fun. If there is an on-going problem I will boot players from the game and find new players. With that said I hope I haven't scared any prospective players off and welcome any questions any of you might have. UPDATE 1/27: My apologies, but I will no longer be able to do Sunday evenings. I am currently looking at Sunday afternoons, beginning at 12pm EST. However, nothing will be set in stone until I have an idea of who will be playing. If you can, please indicate other days and times that would also work for you so that I have a backup if Sunday afternoons do not work out. I apologize for the strange and haphazard way I'm organizing this, but as soon as I get an idea of what will work and what won't this should become clearer. If there are enough leftover people that are all free for another day, I may just run the same adventure path twice in a week, but that's only an idea for now.
Alright, after asking a few friends about my choices, I came to the result of playing a male bard (Geisha archetype). I wanted something a little "out there", although it is a common practice. Is this alright with you, and if a cleric is needed, I will gladly play one as it is my favorite class as of Pathfinder.
I wish to join. My only hope is that the game lasts more than a session or 2 as it seems most if all roll20 games seem to be. I could easily do Sunday afternoon. When a rules question comes up that I know I usually say what the book says, but if the gm says that carebears are suddenly raining from the sky then they are I have a teifling alchemist that I have been wanting to try, however I could easily make it a human if it works better with the setting. The alchemist is a melee and after level 3 can tank decently
Zander--That's fine by me. Hell, in my main campaign (where i play a little more loosely with the rules because the players are all friends of mine and my campaign is homebrewed) my best friend is playing a robot gunslinger. I enjoy creativity with classes. You can also roll up a cleric as an alt if you feel like. Just show me the character sheet(s) when you're finished so I can look over them. DT - I'm running modules so I'm more or less going to try and run it by the book as much as I can since this is practice for me as well. I'd like to keep it on-going. I want to run some of the adventure paths which should keep it going for a while, theoretically. Races from that new book of races are allowable, so tiefling is fine with me. When it comes to unusual races, I more or less look to my experiences in Korea for inspiration; prepare to be gawked at, occasionally dismissed, or encounter bigots, but it's not going to create major conflicts.
Also I am amendable to Sunday afternoons.
Hey Jesse, I'm definitely interested in playing some Pathfinder with you and the other people you get in your group. Right off the bat I'd have to say that I can't do wed, thurs, or sundays. If that's a problem I understand. I'm interested in playing a ranger. I'm thinking he's gonna have a vendetta against frost giants. Cause they raided his village or something cooler. Still in the thought process at the moment. I'll post a character sheet later in this post. Just one questions for you. Since you are running premade adventures do you want characters to fit into Gollarion? (That's the pathfinder world right?) Here's the sheet <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506481" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506481</a> Thanks for your consideration
Mando - I have a preference for Sunday, but if there's a consensus on a date that's better for people I will certainly let you know. As for the pre-made world, I'm flexible on it. I'm not a stickler for canon so feel free to develop your character however you want. I'll incorporate as little or as much of that background world as players choose. I'll worry about any clashes if/as they arise.
These seems cool, I've been looking for a way to try out pathfinder. If you don't mind a new player you can expect my app soon.
Elijah - I always welcome new players. My main campaign is full of people who have never really played before and one of the joys of GMing for them is watching them grow as players. If you have any questions or concerns about how Pathfinder works, feel free to message me and ask me.
Thanks! I appreciate the help.
I would VERY much like to play pathfinder. Sundays are a perfect time for me also. I GM another pathfinder campaign..and it's not enough, I want to be a player in one.
I as well would be interested in joining your campaign. I would like to play either a druid or a wizard, I'd yet have to decide. Sunday - generally - would be fine with me. However, before applying and committing I'd like to clarify what "Sunday evening" means more precisely since I am 6 hours ahead of you - so, a rather afternoonish evening would obv. work well for me whereas I'd struggle with advanced evening hours... :)
I would like to join these events if possible. I live in the EST timezone and I would be available to start at around 8:30pm-9:00pm because I usually have work from 4pm-8pm. I also have a character already created for this if need be. Here's the link: <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506202" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506202</a> Do let me know if I'm accepted.
Would we playing like..tonight? Or next week, or what? GM! We need you! You're our only hope.
Definitely not today. I have work. And I might not be able to do it next week because it's the Super Bowl, plus I need to prepare the adventure and review character sheets. When i start is heavily dependent on taking care of all this administrative stuff. Keep checking this thread because I'll be updating it as frequently as I can. There's been a change on time since I now have a Sunday evening commitment. Apologies. However, I can still do Sunday afternoons, starting at 12pm EST and going to 4-430pm. Also, I'm adding an update to the main post that everyone should read.
Thomas - I have a prospective player who is looking at playing a druid at the moment. That's not to discourage you from rolling up one yourself, I don't think there's really anything wrong with having doubles of a class, but I thought you might like to know that there is someone else looking at making a druid. xDeathxDroidx - My apologies about the evening no longer working. Is 12pm-4pm workable for you or does that cut it too close? If it does, would you like to be on the waiting/alternate list? And are there any other days that work for you?
2-6 pm est doesn't work? 12-4pm will conflict with my schedule My schedule is free 6 pm - 10 cst weekdays besides monday and wed. Sat all day and sunday after 2 pm est
Hmm, I originally didn't consider Saturdays because I wasn't sure if people would be around for them. How are Saturdays for everyone? And I'm talking any time of day here. DT, I see yours are free.
For me-Any evening after 9 EST....or any time during the day on sunday (except like 6-8 EST) Also, here is my character <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506468" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506468</a> Yes, I will be playing a Pixie. I'll be taking four levels in fey before I take and class levels, and probably be following the XP progression chart under what you want the others to have, as well as following the "LA buyout" rule pathfinder has. And, of course, if you have any questions, or objection, or don't want me to play her, I'm more then happy to make a not-so-crazy character. :)
I can do 12pm EST on sundays, might be a little groggy but no big.
Saturday works fine for me. I'm good with this.
Preston - Yeah, I'm going to have to ask you to stick to the core races or any that are already outlined in the Advanced Race Guide. I have a very strong dislike for monster races as PCs due to some bad experiences. A character like that shouldn't be possible in a 20 point buy build at level 1.
Is there still chance to jump on board this ship or will I have to swim behind it / sneak attack someone off to grab a spot? I recall you saying possibly rolling out two of the same campaign? What classes do you have already within your massive party? any roles need filling? I've been playing D&D for a good many years, but sadly it's been about a year since I've truly played ... am QUITE interested in getting this hobby back up an running. :) <a href="mailto:Blair.Halverson@gmail.com" rel="nofollow">Blair.Halverson@gmail.com</a> <--- this guy is interested if you want to keep growing the party haha. By the way, I'm in love with Roleplaying if that makes or breaks any deals. (DMed a session where we spent literally 2 hours RPing haha... didn't get anywhere that day :P )
Blair - So far there's been talk of bards, druids, wizards, rangers, and clerics. If you were looking for something that hasn't really been staked out, there's still plenty of choices out there. Like I said, it's not first come first served as I have a bunch of criteria (some of it that I'm keeping secret) that I'm using in selecting players. Once I have my first list finalized, I'll start looking at if a second list is possible.
<a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506486" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506486</a> There, someone a lot less ridiculous (I gave the prior about a 1/100 chance anyway. ;) )
Are Ratfolk allowed?
Better question, What's the world's more common races so I can sort of, Pick from the bundle and not be shot on site should I step into a tavern xD I read already no monster races (pixie I believe), but I figured ratfolk was within the advanced races guide or something along those lines.
Ratfolk are in the Advanced Race Guide, so yes, allowable. When it comes to unusual races, my approach is this: unless I have racism/discrimination as a specific theme in my campaign or it's a specific part of the module/adventure, I don't really make much of a deal out of it beyond flavor text. Now, unusual races will likely be gawked at, but I play it just like my experiences in Korea; people are more likely to just stare or say something offensive out of pure ignorance or curiosity than malice. Just like most societies, money talks and BS walks.
perfect then :) I love playing the underdog... played a leashed goblin once that only understood common, but spoke goblin like a gentleman and he was LG haha. So many people trying to kill me :P
Posted a character sheet to my first post. I'll fill in background and other flavor laterish.
Alright... Here's Twitch... or Skritt... not sure on a name yet. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506581" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506581</a>
<a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506577" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=506577</a> With all the ratfolk, pixie, and goblin talk I hope a (somewhat) vanilla human will still be considered
"Really ****ing shiny" hahaha, I laughed.&nbsp; Also I resent that staement! I am now a vanilla elf!
LOL muahaha!
Here is my alchemist &nbsp; <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=507160" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=507160</a>
Fun build Brent :P I've seen that combo every where heh. &nbsp;never played with someone who was that though.
UPDATE: My first group is FULL. At the moment I am swamped with work but I will return to this next week to decide if I will do a second group or not. Thank you to everyone who submitted sheets. If I have the time to do a second group, I will let you all know. I apologize to everyone who did not get a spot.
I'll just leave this here and follow the thread if you decide to make a 2nd group.
