Hello, folks! I am looking for 3-4 enthusiastic players to help me playtest an Apocalypse World (system by the great Vincent Baker) hack I am writing, which I rather originally named Mercenary World. Mercenary World is meant to capture the struggles, brutishness, and drama of life as a professional soldier for hire in a quasi-medieval low-fantasy setting. Much of play is focused on making hard choices to address internal problems and external threats that face the company. When you have laid a siege and receive word of overwhelming enemy reinforcements, will you rush to take the city or will you reinforce your position, preparing for a fight on two fronts? What will you do to keep your men in line when your supplies run out? When you learn that your good friend has attempted to sell you out to the enemy, how will you punish them? This doesn't mean that the combat aspects are glossed over or nonexistent. Though rare, battles are strategic affairs that could seal a company's fate, and single combat is meant to be deadly and true to the time. I plan to run a 4-12 session campaign that will help me test the rules and mechanics of the game. The system is very easy to learn, so begginers are more than welcome. It received positive feedback in playtests with friends, but I am looking for new perspectives. We are
going to create our own mercenary units, employers, and foes together, so player creativity is encouraged! This also means you should have some enthusiasm for the concept or genre. I can run sessions
once a week, on weekends (morning/afternoon/evening) or weekdays besides Tuesday and Friday
(afternoon/evenings). I usually run 3-4 hour sessions. We will be using
Skype, microphones are required. If you are interested,
please send a private message or a forum post my way. Include your time zone and what time you are available, and any
other information you'd like to share. Thanks!
