Hiding Chat

Is there a way to prevent players from seeing chat/rolls/etc. from previous sessions, especially ones they weren't a part of? I just had a session with a single person yesterday, and I plan on having three more people join. These three new people should not immediately be able to figure out everything this other person did when their characters weren't a part of it. All it takes is for them to scroll up for one second to receive massive spoilers for future sessions. I was looking at Clear Chat Archive, but I want to hide the chat, not permantly delete it all.

Hi Aaron. GM can Clear Chat Archive from your game details page, under settings. Note this will permanently erase your entire chat history in that game. Wiki docs for this, https://wiki.roll20.net/Text_Chat#Clearing_the_Cha...

Deleting the archive is the only way to stop a player from seeing the chat history. You could save a copy of the history if you want to keep it around, of course. Another option to consider might be duplicating your campaign, although I believe that would mess up any macros your players have in their Settings tab. (Abilities on their character would be fine.)

Hi Aaron I saw your edit that you don't want to delete it all. There is a way to clear just the chat on your screen, but that only clears it for you (not for other Players) so that won't solve it either. You know about Whispers -- where you could have sent the secret info to the specific player using a Whisper. Then it would be hidden from others eyes. Wiki docs for Whispers, https://wiki.roll20.net/Text_Chat#Whispers In your current situation, the best workaround I can think of is, type a series of dice rolls into your chat, and fill it up so that the secret information scrolls far enough off the top of the chat that it won't load by scrolling up. It could still be read in the Chat Archive (which you didn't want to delete) but at least they won't see the info just by scrolling up. (Alternately, what Brian suggested: duplicate the game and start playing from the copy, could also do the trick)
The best way I just discovered is to go to chat archive and download/save the webpage, saving it as something like Chat Archive Session 01, then clear the chat archive afterwards.
