Name: Marius Friggson
Race:
Human
Class:
Ranger
Background:
Marius belonged to a village on the outskirts of a major city where he learned
to hunt, fish, and survive from a young age. The village as a whole was tasked
with providing a great deal of the food source to the larger city for the
nobles.
During one tragic dry season, the majority of the animals
succumbed to famine, and/or moved
elsewhere, meaning that the nobles (and his
village) we left without food. The nobles added insult to injury when they came
to the village, and demanded the hunters try harder or else there would be
punishment from the nobles, and their knights. Weeks continued to pass without
relief, and many of the younger members of the village began to get ill due to
undernourishment. Marius was among these, and his father Frigg did his best to
provide for his family, and the demands of the nobles. This would prove to be
in vain when one morning the nobility came to town, and with them, a band of
their knights to punish the hunters for their weakness. The hunters were locked
up, and moved to the inner city to be punished in the dungeons, but Frigg would
not leave his son. Frigg pushed chairs, and placed other objects to bolster the
front door to their cabin. The nobles took this act of impudence, and chose to
make an example out of him. They set the cabin ablaze, and Frigg had no choice
but to remove the barricade from the door, and rush out with young Marius in
his arms. Marius had been burned on his back, and arms, but would make a full
recovery. Unfortunately, his father would not be so lucky. The nobles, showing
some semblance of mercy, knocked Marius to the ground, and pushed him away from
his father. They then released their hounds on him. In his prime, Frigg could
have taken 2-3 of these hunting hounds with a dagger, however, after starving
for weeks, and using much of his energy to save his son, he fell to their
bites. Marius wailed in anger and sorrow as he laid on the ground. The
noblemen, seeing no reason to bother with this whelp of a child, pulled the
jailed hunters back to the city of Irasfall to live out their
"crimes."
Marius
wept all night, and in the morning he rolled onto his belly, and pushed himself
to his feet, still delirious from the past weeks events. He swayed into the
woods, until he found a spring to wash in. The water felt like a gift from the
Gods on his burns, and he drifted into a deep sleep as he lay in the pool.
After these events, Marius devoted his life to living in solitude. He would
interact on occasion with travelers, but he refused to enter the town of
Irasfall. He knew, without help, he had no hope of rescuing his friends, and
family. This continued for 10 years. Marius, waif of a young man, has
found his calling in the woods surrounding this old village. His training in
his youth has done him well, and he maintains his training, all the while
looking for the opportunity to take his revenge on the nobles of
Irasfall. Now obviously depending on the world this takes place in the locations can be changed. I am open to working with a variety of different inspirations for this characters as well. The reason I didn't include the Tifeling is because I am wondering about a couple things. What types of Gods are in this universe, and would a Tifeling Wizard that focuses on Necromancy be welcome in a party?
