Odd image resizing issues

So I am trying to import some hex icons, and I've noticed that if I import them with the grid on, roll20 resizes the icon and it looks terrible. But if i turn the grid off, and import the icon it, and then turn the grid back on, it looks fine. What is the deal? On the attached image, the upper icon was dragged on with the grid on. The lower one was dragged on while the grid was off, and then I flipped the grid back on and it was fine. Any input?

That is odd, and while I don't have a reason for why that happens, if it continues to do so ( have you tried restarting roll20? ), you could likely save some time by holding alt while you resize, rather than turning the grid off and on repeatedly. Not ideal, but possibly a better workaround. Edit: Thought: did you make sure your picture doesn't actually have a transparent border that is part of the file that you uploaded? That could cause spatial issues.

Yes, cecil, this is the same behavior that I've been experiencing on Roll20 since something changed quite a while back. The usual workaround advice is, as you found, turn the grid off before dragging non-square graphics. This is the best way I've found to retain the original graphic's aspect ratio. Another way is, if you remember or can find out the pixel dimensions of the original graphic, you can right-click each graphic and Set Dimensions. for anyone cruising this post or looking for more answers on the subject; i found a better work around. the language in the wiki sort of led my to believe that there needed to be a buffer of transparency on the image to work; so my image files were rectangular. full disclosure; i am an idiot when it comes to numbers so that misinformation is more my fault than anything. with the help of roll20 and some other people i figured that the image basically needs to be 210x210px, and anything bigger or smaller wouldn't work. there is still transparent buffer in the image, but it is not uniform all around. now the assets work fine, with just a smidge of holding alt to resize a little bit smaller.
