Aura Opacity Setting

I think it would be great if we could adjust the opacity level for token auras, all the way from transparent to fully opaque. I am having issues in games that use Darkness spells (DND and Pathfinder especially) where the only way to create darkness effects that the players cannot see through is to use fog of war, but that gets really tedious and time consuming having to redraw the fog of war when the darkness effect moves, such as when a player casts Darkness on themselves. Adding the ability to set a token aura to fully opaque would allow us to create a Darkness type effect that would obscure vision of anything under the aura, and still leaving the dark area mobile when the token itself moves.

That is a cool idea Sarah. A token of pure blackness could be used, on the token layer (and possibly Send To Back then GROUP it with a regular token so that they can move together), or a graphic tile of pure blackness on the Map Layer (less convenient to move it though). I certainly see why your idea with the Aura opacity would be easier.

Thanks :) I have tried using the black shape idea before, but it can be a real pain to get working.  When moving the grouped token the shape sometimes doesn't come along with it, and when it does the token snaps to grid but the shape doesn't so the darkness gets lopsided.  Also, having to move the Darkness caster to the front, the darkness token to the back, and then all the Other tokens to the back afterwords (to make the darkness object obscure them) is pretty finicky.   It works, but its pretty time consuming :) The other advantage of having opaque auras as opposed to solid tokens overlaying others, is that you can click through auras to select things underneath.  I had issues using tokens to simulate darkness or fog because it makes it difficult to click the character or monster tokens underneath the fog effect.
Opacity is something I'd like to see with every single tool, actually.
Sarah, I agree this should be a feature. However, if you are considering becoming a r20 pro there is a script called Carry that does a better job of token grouping.
