Interest check in a game im thinking of trying to run on Roll20 its gonna be a fantasy football/soccer game

Hey if your reading this thanks for checking this post out . basically what im trying to do is make a turn based fantasy football/soccer league. the idea is to try and get at least 12 people who want to do this and have them make a team and roll the stats on all thier starting players. it will be a 7 aside game as 11 aside would be waaaay to much work :P. its gonna be done on Roll20 so the games will be played with me as the GM watching over as hte game plays out. to give a rough idea of how the game will work , each manager(the player) will have the chance to move 3 players during their turn. after they have moved thier 3 players it is the other managers turn to move 3 players (this is a round) there will be 8 rounds per half equaling 16 turns a game. passing shooting dribbling and all that good stuff will be done using a D20+ their stat for what thier doing and like most table top games there will be counters to each action . if there is enough interest shown i will make a website with a league table and hopefully make a transfer system so managers can bulk out thier team .. there will also be experience for players to help them level up and get better as a season goes on ... my idea is to have matches on a saturday and sunday and they should only be like an hour long and if all goes well we can make different divisions ... if your interested let me know or if you think this is a bad idea also let me know :D thanks for reading if there is more info needed then ask and ill try put all my ideas down :P its still awork in progress but so far its looking like it can be done :D
This is an early screen shot of a test match between me and my buddy ... whats the thoughts ?
you stated that this is a fantasy soccer game, is this mean it will have different races like human or orc? and skills and magics?
Lap Ho said: you stated that this is a fantasy soccer game, is this mean it will have different races like human or orc? and skills and magics That would be a good idea. I can see it now. "I dribble left for 10 meters....pass 20 yards to the right....then cast lightning bolt at the goalie...
LMFAO!!! no no no :P its fantasy because its all made up player names :p ... you think it could be a good project if enough people play and we can get a few leagues started ?
Interested. I can see races as an option but magic would add a level of complexity.
you may want to check Blood Bowl (from Games Workshop). It based on football (American football, not soccor). I would be nice to have a system similar to that but based on soccer the only problem is it will be hell to balance
ye balancing is gona be stupid hard with magic etc ... but if things go well with the basic soccer stuff i could try work it out ... we are almost at half time in our first game im losing 1-0 lol so far its running smooth :D
what you have so far? just the match system or post-game between matches like training players?
so far i have the match system pretty much polished off just changing things on the fly in this game to make it smoother ... then after each league match all players on the field will gain EXP ... 100 for a win 50 for a draw or 25 if u lost ... man of the match will get a bonus 50 ... then when players level up they get to put 1 point on thier abilitys from 3 diff categories. im thinking of implimenting injuries etc but cant think of a way to make it balanced ... was thinking if u get tackled and your save is a 1 you roll a d20 to determine how injured u are.
You need to load the rules on google docs or something for us to read. I'm a soccer player myself and coupled with being a GM, I can critique the system well enough ;)
Player Name Age Height Weight 1 x D8 Speed PRIMARY 5 x D4 Max 20 Shoot Shooting proficiency will vs the GK handling to determine a goal Short Pass Determines the success of a pass (d20+pass vs any defelctions) Tackling Success of a tackle (d20+tackle vs D20+dribble of opponent) Dribbling Success of a dribble (d20+dribble vs D20+tackle of opponent) SECONDARY 3 x D4 Max 16 Long Pass Determines the success of a pass (d20+pass vs any defelctions) Deflection Chance to deflect a pass or shot (d20+deflection vs d20+shoot/pass) Heading heading proficiency to either pass or shoot (d20+heading) ADDITIONAL 2 x D4 Max 12 Control Determines the success of receiving the ball (DC 10 for short DC 12 for long passes) Jumping Decides who wins a header (d20+jump vs D20+jump of opponent) EXP Current 0 each player gets 100 for winning 50 for drawing 25 for losing ( man of the match gets an extra 50) Next Level 100 Doubles every level Each Level Grants 1 point in each stat group DC = difficulty class - eg short pass is d20+control vs 10 Free kicks/corners give +2 to pass or shoot Speed = how many squares a player can move and is halved if in possession of the ball (odd numbers are rounded up) If you roll a 20 on a deflect or tackle it auto ends the opponents turn each half consists of 8 rounds each round gives each player 3 move actions and 3 standard actions (pass, shoot, tackle etc) each player can only move or take a standard action per round at the end of any managers turn he can move any player 1 square as a free action once a player has used a standard action he loses his move action for that round Passing = short pass up to 6 blocks away. Passing DC = 8 short pass / 12 long pass Goal Keeper = inside the box =DC 10 then for every 4 boxes add 2 to the DC Once a player makes a tackle and wins he then has all his actions back If an oppenent fails his tackle attempt the two players switch places unless the defender is further from the goals then the attacker moves 1 block forward
i think the exp differences are bit too far. imagine that if one player lost 2 games because of bad dice roll, it will be so hard for him to catch up.
im doing it in excel so the copy n past sucked :p but hopefully u can make heads or tails of it :d

I noticed there is no Goal keeper stats. Instead of the rolling; I suggest with each set to have a number to spread out. I would add speed to the secondary set.
sorry can you make that more clear i dont quite understand what you mean

No worries You have PRIMARY 5 x D4 Max 20 for stats right? Rather than rolling; you have like 40 or 50 points to spread out among the stats. Reason I say this is because the Dice God could hate you this week and you roll all 1s :) As for goal keeper; where are their stats or which one do they use?
the reason i dont want max stats is i want level 1 players to be jumbled up soem good some bad ... and when i make the teams with people i wont let them get all 1's ... as for the goal keeper its just a straight up DC 10 if you shoot in the box then every 4 squares you add 2 to the DC (so if you shoot un challenged from 13 blocks out thats 10+2+2+2 for the squares from the goals) so you need to roll D20+shoot vs DC 16 to score a goal ... now if you have a defender in the way that becomes D20+shoot vs d20+deflect of defender - if successfull then roll D20+shoot vs DC10+ (distance) to try score
Ok. Just wondering; the abilities/stats. They like normal d20 game where 12-13 a +1; 14-15 +2 or are they whatever the number is the bonus to roll?
because the way i have it set up "for now" its subject to change is just what your stat is at is what you get and differnt players stats will vs each other so like tackle will vs dribble and passing will vs deflect. an example from the game i just tested ....... defender passes the ball to the midfield (long pass) .... midfielder tries to control (long pass control = DC14) rolls a d20+his control which was 12+4 so he controled) .... the midfielder then attempted to run up the wing but ran past an opposition midfielder so then .... it was midfielder d20+dribble vs opponent midfielder d20+tackle (11+5 vs 7+4) so the dribble was successful and he passes him no problem... the dribble was his move action so he then could only pass or shoot and in this case he decided to put a cross into the box (long pass) there was no one in the way so it was uncontested (means its successful just needs to get control checked by the recieving player) ... the striker waiting to recieve this pass was marked by a defender so when the ball came in from the cross both players jumped .... striker rolled 14+2(jump) and defender rolled 4+3(jump) so the striker now has a chance to header ... he then decides to either pass or shoot with his header but because he is infront of goal and inside the box he decided to shoot ... so the DC of the keeper in the box is now 10 and he won the jump so the header is uncontested he rolls (d20+header vs keeper DC of 10) he rolled 10+3 and scored a goal for his team. thats a kinda basic play hope that helps you understand it a lil better :P
Gotcha. Just cleaning it up.
