Mockup

Link to bigger image As amazing of a platform roll20 is, I tend to find the over-all layout to be a bit clunky and needlessly taking a lot of space. I've made a small mockup to inform you what layout I, personally, would appreciate in your service. Most of the "tools" like dice roller or turn table tend to take unnecessary space, blocking the playing field, which is currently already cut in half by the vertical textbox (which I find a strange design choice to begin with). I've especially trimmed down the dice roller, and nested it along the texbox. I took some liberties with the design of the Turn Order by having the initiatives and names overlapping the portraits. I put all the dialogue in the bottom part of the screen, so long stretches of speech don't bother that much. I've decided to have the macros in "folders" so they allow for more options in less room. It's strange that most of the options that WOULD warrant a seperate window, don't currently have them: options like the Jukebox would not be necessary to be open for the duration of a battle, but instead play in the background. The handouts only come up occasionally, as well as settings. I personally do not see the need of a seperate GM layer when the items could be in an "invisible" state when plonked on the board. Perhaps even synergize with the Reveal tool? That's about it. I'm not requesting a complete overhaul, of course. As I said, this is merely a mockup. Handle it as you will. If there's any questions, don't be afraid to shoot. PS: Yes, this was a Chocolate Factory dungeon :p

The chat pane in your mockup is a little bit confusing, but that may just be because it seems to be all dice rolls/macros (without knowing the macro body); some example of dialogue/emotes/description/whispers on their own would be useful for seeing what it looks like in other cases. I do like what you've done with the macro bar, though. The scrolling horizontal space taken up by macros/abilities is my biggest gripe about the macro system. The turn order window looks nice, although I generally resize mine so that it takes up even less screen real-estate than yours does! But don't forget about the dynamic lighting available to subscribers! It's on another layer:

Dieter , you can minimize the sidebar so that it won't take up space. The minimize button is at the top left of the sidebar (the button will pop out when you hover over it). - Gauss

@ Brian -I edited in a couple more commands for example sake. New commands would come in from the left and a scrollbar on the bottom would allow for -checking the history. -Turn order window got itself a resizing corner, without losing any info. -Layer window added, since when working on layers, DM's tend to mess up quite a lot without a clear frame of reference. I also edited in a separate box on the right which SHOULD be able to nest most of what now houses in the huge pillar. Thanks a lot :) @ Gauss Oh, I know, but that just gets rid of it entirely. That's a bit overkill. Thanks anyway.
