Would adding Z levels be difficult?

I am attempting to create large sections of a city for my players to fight through/explore. I was wondering if it would be possible to add the ability to use z levels to add upstairs and down stairs to a map. For instance. A player enters a building and goes up stairs. Instead of dragging him to a new page just for that upstairs section I could just scroll up or down to show a player what is above or below the location they are standing on. If I was using dynamic lighting it would be broken up between the upper layer or the bottom one. I am no programmer but how I see it working in my head is that each page would have layers that you could move between. three layers would be ideal. each layer is set apart from the other and when you switch between layers the objects on that layer just have more priority over things on the layer you left behind. there is probably a better way to word this, but I will leave that up to someone that understands what I am getting at and can word it better.
Oh I know a simple solution to your issue, Just switch the second floor to the GM's layer and when you need it, you can change the layer to the map layer and back when you need to.
true, I could do that. Though what is bugging me is that I build out my maps with line of sight in mind. So I make it so that players can't see through walls. I don't know how that effects things dropped from my GM layer onto the map so I will give it a shot. Thanks for the tip man.

Another approach, Roll20 has "To Front" and "To Back" for graphics within the same Layer (Map Layer, Token/Object Layer, hidden GM Layer). To access this, right-click the graphic and Advanced > To Back. With this method you can cycle through Floors of a building on the same footprint. I'll work on adding this to the Wiki, as it should be documented under Advanced here, https://wiki.roll20.net/Manipulating_Graphics However as you already thought of, Roin, your Dynamic Lighting walls will convey, being in the same place, if you use either the To Front method, or the GM Layer method. If the basement or upstairs-floor doesn't have the same walls as the lower floor, you'll want to find a different approach (such as new Pages, or putting multiple maps in different places on the same page, side by side) rather than layering the city. Here is a matching suggestion, if you would like to add your Comments and vote +1, Multiple Map Layers https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1911012/suggesti...
