Don't navigate to the bottom of a thread immediately

I've not read most of the threads on the forum. Therefore it's pretty annoying that all forum thread links use anchors to the last post. This means I need to scroll up to the top to see the context for the discussion at the end. It's like top-posting on Usenet. It doesn't appear that per-post read status has been implemented. As such, just my opinion here, but I'd rather have to scroll down to get to new content than be scrolled down automatically and have to scroll up on every thread I access.
+1. It would be fine if it remembered that I read a post or if there was just a button to skip to the end. But as I read the backlog it's annoying.
I agree. I'd much rather start at the top.
