
S 04 e 10 - rising tides Feng drops a moonbeam onto the bubbling corpse of the dragon to burn away the black tar while the rest of the team advances, encou8ntering more tar demons as they go. Between the bard, rogue, and wizard, these things dont last more than a round or two.. simply unable to gang up on the team fast enough before the evil entities are scorched away, shattered like ice, or simply disintegrate at the touch of the divine angel hamfists. with the dragon dead, the demon worms possessing elves turn and flee instead of fight back-- up another level and the team finds possibly hundreds of crippled refugees-- all missing a limb or more... a veritabe wall of dying souls slowly pulling themselves towards the heroes with mindless automation, clumsily closing in to ... i dunno... gnaw the heroes to death? the bard spots a giant demon-squid-thing behind the wall of thralls, carried by the same lost souls. fireball. the squid survives well enough-- it has a massive 10 foot by 10 foot ruby mask with three eyeholes. the broken souls melt away and the team closes distance. --- pulse of passive psychic damage from the squid for anyone in line of sight puts hurt on fast. lots of stalagtites and mites pulsing and oozing in the chamber fo the tam to duck and cover the bard in angelic form winds up a haymaker of radiant damage, but is rendered feebleminded on a fail save, reducing his combat efficiency to abotu 5%. Chuck lobbing fireballs from cover while Gang fires arros into the demonic cephalopod. the mask falls off when it squeezees between two pillars to blast the team with more psychic damage, lobbign burnt corpses at the heroes with it's tentacles, grabbing at chuck and feebled-bard gang and feng put down the smack and finally the thing retreats-- falling from the chimney intot he boiling spirit-peope-soup 300 some feet below. the team pulls rings and freefalls afte the target , dex saving themselves close neough to put the ring back on for safe landing but the demonsquid rolls the cauldron over and dumps the soup in a massive hissing steam back in the prime plane. Feng rages, pulling the team sideways back to prime after it-- don't think it expected that-- and start ringing the caldron like a bell, making the squid scuttle around until it falls down the main shaft into the river below, bobbing upright with the bloodied creature in disarray. Gang takes the damage to fall 150 feet sword-first to skewer the creatre-- fillign the cauldron with inky bile. the river is too high. and the water is red. and the current has stopped and the cauldron isn't sinking as Undertow rises from the river, gloating-- "I have a river now" is all the team needs to hear to fly hella fast up and away from the water. A ropetrick later, team hides a few levels up while chuck performs a ritual of teleportation back to Lavor Hai. The ship is full-tilt making distance-- the storm has swollen to engulf Fiendfell, and lightning plays about the magic circle -- whatver the Bishop of The Devourer was planning, he's started doing it. End of Season 4. now level 18 about 4 hours spent in game
