[LF1P][FFG Star Wars][Sat Afternoon: EST] First time DM running a low-player campaign

Hello there! Preemptive TL;DR: I'm looking for 1 player for a low-player game of FFG's Star Wars. I'm new to DMing but I know the system well. If you want in, don't be a dick. PM me with a case for picking you. It will be weekly on Saturday afternoons. 18+ please. DMs for anything other than 5E and Pathfinder seem tougher to find, so I'm going to bust out of my comfort zone and try to run something myself. I am most knowledgeable in the rules for FFG's Star Wars series, so I'm going to run that. I figure that will take some of the pressure off. The game will be held on Saturday afternoons in the EST zone. The end time will be by 7PM, but the start time is flexible. Now that you know that, I get to tell you the fun stuff (maybe it's fun. I dunno.) I am not positive what type of DM I am. I can tell you the type I want to be, and certain things that won't be gameplay related about my style, such as punctuality and respect. I'll start with those since they are pretty important to me: I understand things day-of or even last-minute that mean you can't make a game. I do. However, people have set aside time in their lives to engage in a hobby. That means they haven't scheduled another game. Or time out with friends. If it becomes habitual, I will ask you to leave. Respect the time of the rest of the group. Also respect that we're all different and our characters will be different. I won't tolerate trying to undermine the other players for your own benefit or treating anyone poorly based on their life choices. There won't be many players, so it probably won't manifest itself, but it's a precaution. Okay, now that the grumpy "them's the damn rules" portion is over... As a player I like a good mix of role play and action. If a session is all action I get a little bored. If a session is 0 action, I get a little bored. Keeping things changing and moving is important to me. I intend to try and bring that to being a GM. You WILL have to RP. You WILL need to learn the rules, especially as they relate to the abilities you've chosen for your character. I'm not saying you need to know them by heart right away, especially if you are new to the system as my only current player is (we haven't started anything, so you would be coming in at the beginning of the story), but knowing that the influence power can't make people shoot themselves in the face is something you're gonna need to know. This is all so that we can have a game with different objectives and tactics without leaving members out. The group is too small for that. I will be doing light to medium prep. I want you to feel free to do interesting things and do things your character wants to do. Not just what I want to plan. I don't like railroading as a player, so I'll try my best not to do that to you. I also am very open to criticism, so long as it's useful. Just telling me I suck is fine if you want things to be tense and make me kill your character then find a new player. Being new I know I'll need to adapt and improve my style as I go. It's inevitable. It would be a miracle if I were the perfect DM right out the gate. So that's my pitch! We're looking for 1 player. You can post here to let me know you're interested, but I would prefer a PM with a character idea (can be broad strokes for now) and whatever you want to say to make a case for yourself. Hell, even if all you want to do is make your case and then work out a character idea, that's fine. My current player and I would prefer someone 18+. Thanks for reading this if you didn't just close it after the TL;DR section. :D

Ohai thar! I'm the already-there second player in this game. I figured I'd introduce myself, just in case you were reading this and wondering who your potential partner-in-crime is. I'm new to the system, but definitely not new to roleplaying. You can read up tons about me, my preferences and playstyle, in my profile here on Roll20 (just click my name). For this game, I've chosen to cross-dress and play a male Human Smuggler (Charmer), if you were curious about the character side of things. Lots of having a pretty smile, little bit of piloting and shootin' people, that sort of thing. Anyway, if you'd like to know anything else about me in particular - I don't imagine you would, but hey - don't be afraid to ask, I don't bite (much). :)
WTG Mike!  I just wanted to say I hear you on the lack of "other" on Roll20 vs so much DnD.  Sadly I think people with other interests come and go on Roll20 because when we look or post such games.  Days or weeks go by (possibly months) before one gets enough interests.  For me example, I havent been on Roll20 since March? I was about to ebay all my Star Wars RPG stuff but decided to look on Roll20 one last time.  Getting a good group of like minded players together is tough plus giving the GM his dues for his time and effort put in plus giving him/her time to get good at Game Mastering.  Good Luck Mike!  Maybe someday I will find my MHRP group.
Awesome! Glad you didn't sell em off. We need to keep it alive. I figure the only way to do that is to start generating more DMs. Thanks for the encouragement, and I hope you find something too!

Its a great game I think with unique dynamics.  Unfortunately my long time gaming group is just to use to DnD and will always buy into the latest version.  They just didnt like to think about the success - failures and creatively coming up with results I guess.  So I only ran it locally 3 times.  They are more the "murder hobo" rpg personality types.  I did love the Edge of Empire dice script here and I told them about it and how we could game here, I'll pay to use the script with membership.  But again old dogs and new tricks they feel its not gaming unless all sitting around a physical table.
Yeah, it's a hurdle for sure. It also takes some getting used to. Most people don't regularly describe everything in detail, and while this doesn't force it, it sure encourages it. If you ever ran a game on here I'd play it. :D

You still doing this? I'd like to take part in it. The first time I did a SW game it was 1 on 1 for the same reason, and I might be able to help you out.
I am. If you're interested in playing send me a PM. I've got a few interested, so I'm going through and making a decision based on meshing styles. Until I decide, the slot is certainly open.
Thanks everyone! I am no longer looking for more applications. I have a group of them that I have narrowed down and am considering for the position. Good luck to everyone in finding games!
