Completely new to tabletop, eager to learn.

Heya! So as the title states, I am completely and utterly new to tabletop RPG. I've wanted to play since I was a kid but never been able to. I'm looking for something or someone to just help guide me in how things work, how to play in an actual game and all that. Basically, everything. I don't have access to voice and video so I can only do text only. What I'm hoping for most is a patient teacher who can guide me and get comfortable in a game. I will also state that I'm not good with communication due to social anxiety and autism. This is me coming out of my comfort zone to try something I've wanted to do for years so I apologise in advance if I say something that may be construed as rude or offensive, it is certainly of no intention. Anyway, I've drabbled on enough. I appreciate any help and look forward to getting involved in campaigns and the community here. Thank you for reading.
Welcome Valian! As much as I understand the entire ordeal of social anxiety, being able to do this is a very interesting way to do so. I applaud you for doing so. However, finding games that are text based isn't exactly easy here. Rules are a lot easier to explain via voice, and voice certainly helps keep things moving in a virtual table top when everyone else has access to those. Then to add on towards the issue of finding a game that is fine with text only, and I by absolutely no intent of disrespect, being honest about your autism probably isn't going to help you. I do know that the spectrum is very wide, I have family and friends that I grew up with, very close I might add, who range on different parts of the spectrum. However, unfortunately, mainstream public doesn't always realize this, as I'm sure you're aware. So while there may be GM's who would have no problem having you join, there does become the potential issue of party members who feel differently. I would be glad to do something for you, but it's honestly hard for me to do it via virtual table top. If you want to message me, I would be very willing to help provide you with various methods that may actually be more beneficial towards your situation of having no voice capabilities.
Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it. I do understand the voice aspect and unfortunatelt I lack any form of microphone to be able to participate. Looking through the groups and the forums I have noticed that it is a major component to this website and thus puts me at a disadvantage. As for the autism, I know there's a lot of people who get 'defensive' about it, but I much prefer honesty over tiptoeing. I was lucky to have been diagnosed with it at a young age so I've been able to come up with my own ways of dealing with it which has helped me greatly in developing socially and it probably the only reason I'm able to do this. I also want to thank you for your offer and to let you know that I'll gladly take your advice and will be sending you a message along shortly. Again, thank you for everything.
