Filtering the list of players who can chat and also a token description question

Hi everyone, I'm a GM with 500+ logged so far and enjoying Roll20 a lot.  I have two questions I'm hoping you can help me with. 1.   Is there a way to exclude characters from the chat list , where it says "As," i.e., indicating that's who will do the talking? There may be another way to achieve what I want, so here's what's going on.  We're playing a campaign that has a large crew manning the ship.  I created one sheet for "Deckhand" but if I drag that NPC onto the map they can't have unique hit point values.  We've given several of them nicknames over time so that's another reason to customize them.  I could make a dozen handouts for each unique deckhand, but if I did that it would clog up the "Chat as" menu.  We use that menu all the time for RP. So I was thinking if I could somehow toggle that a character won't appear in that menu I could make any many character sheets as I wanted without bloating our chat box, and just use /as or /emas when they need to talk.  I think I could use permissions to exclude them from players but then I'd still see too many choices as the GM (and there is no text filter or quick search, right?). 2.   Is there a way I can share token descriptions with PCs, i.e., what I've put in the GM notes section. I really don't understand why there isn't a place for both Notes and GM Notes.  Every time I add a monster I put its stat block in that GM notes block so I can bring it up when I need it.  But when I want to give control of a token to a PC (or just show it to them) they can't read the stats.  I was going to post a suggestion to include a PC-readable section on tokens or a way to make those GM notes visible, but I wanted to make sure there isn't a way to do this already. Thanks!
If you type, it should skip to a name that starts with the letter you hit first when you open up the Speaking As menu. So if you had 30 characters and one started with Z... click the Speaking As drop down and then hit Z to jump to characters that start with Z. May be able to keep typing to get the full name you want and then hit enter.

As an update, I found some posts requesting players to see token descriptions and upvoted them both. &nbsp; They don't have very many votes so help us out if you can: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1841475/slug%7D" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1841475/slug%7D</a> <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2561511/slug%7D" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/2561511/slug%7D</a> <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3517136/slug%7D" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3517136/slug%7D</a> I will wait to hear back on options for excluding players from the "Chat As" box before posting a suggestion about that one.

the "chat as" is simply based on who you control as a player (or is all tokens if you're the GM). Is this a game where all the players are controlling everyone on the ship or is it just you as the GM that needs to cycle through each of these? If it is just you as the gm I would think that&nbsp; /emas should do nicely for you (the&nbsp; ColorEmote script by Aaron might also be useful for you if you wanted some more styling options and/or everyone in the game needed these options).

@Scott C., everyone can control all of the deckhands. &nbsp; They're just minions, but with a dash of flavor. &nbsp; My issue isn't how to make a deckhand chat. &nbsp; It's how to make them all unique, using a sheet, but not destroy the "Chat As" option with 30 fluff characters. &nbsp;I would like to have those sheets so we can drop them onto the deck as needed for various purposes. &nbsp; Now when I want to do that I either copy them from a prepared "pen" (another map where they sit) or drop in the default one and customize it on the spot (but then it doesn't have a custom icon). This isn't a huge issue, mind, just one I could easily solve by controlling which sheets can chat, for example filters by tag (#PC or #NPC) or by having an "appears in chat" toggle. I don't think this can be done, so I'm adding a suggestion here:&nbsp; <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3776388/choose-w" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/3776388/choose-w</a>...
