'Who are you?' said the Caterpillar. (Player Introductions)

Howdy y'all.  This is your friendly, neighborhood DM here just chiming in to invite you all to write up a little intro to yourselves, personally, so we can get to know who's at the table.  No pressure - write up your memoir or be mysterious and just say hello. My name is James (or Jim).  I'm living in NYC (The Bronx).  By day, I work for Hearst magazines as a Lead Engineer (web dev) - currently heading the digitalspy.com project.  By night, I juggle taking care of my three kids (an 11 year old, a 7 year old and an 8 month old), three cats, and one dog... We also have a chinchilla, a beta fish, and a crawdad, but the kids mostly care for those.  So yes, my second career is zookeeper, apparently. I've been role playing since I was a kid and have played/ran all sorts of games.  I think I like RPGs best as a form of 'interactive storytelling' - a group of people coming together to help craft a story and have a fun time doing it.  The rules, mediated by characters skills, help to mediate the action and flow of the game, and are definitely a major part of any actual RPG - as opposed to just straight storytelling.  But ultimately, it is about the story.  That said, I'm probably more middle of the road - I'm not a rules lawyer and am willing to break or bend some rules when need be, as long as it doesn't unbalance things, but neither am I writing a novel for my players to witness.  I'm a mediator and scene setter and I rely on my players to help drive the story along. Can't wait to start this thing!
Hello! I'm Anthony, I'm 23 and I live in Portland OR. I have two dogs a border collie and a chow, and I live with my fiance, and my brother, who I won't get into about how awful of a roommate he is. I used to do contract work for game testing, but at the moment I am playing house husband since my fiance makes way more money. I have been playin' this game since I was 12, but by no means do I try to min/max or make fully optimized characters. I usually just get a fun character concept that I enjoy and just try to make sure i'm not useless in fights when the time comes up. I would also like to get better at improv in RP so that I can have more interesting or fluid dialogue, and voices would be fun, but I am terrible at them so I wont be doing that so don't worry!
My name is Rob I'm from North East Ohio lived in that area my entire 35 years. I've always been a big RPG video game player and always loving admired D&D but rarely had a chance to play. I played a few seasons of encounters at a local store during 4th edition. I have watched every minute I can of Acq. Inc and Critical Role online. I love table top board games and have acquire a pretty decent collection of stuff but rarely have time to play. I will playing Dwarf Cleric Atimus Bouldershoulder a War Cleric that bends the knee to Tempus himself. Atimus is older and a bit grumpy sometimes but what Dwarf isn't. He's traveled a lot over his years never being one to settle down and not big on the clan lifestyle. He's always looking for a good fight and some ale. His weapon of choice is Morning Star and he likes to hit things just as much as he likes to heal his friends in battle.
Hello, my name is Julian and I'm a recovering dungeon master... *Hi Julian* I'm three months... Oh wait this isn't DM Anonymous.  Anyway, I am a 21 year old from Chicago Illinois. Currently I'm living and going to college in Dubuque Iowa, right on the Mississippi river. My days consist of sleeping writing eating and working, and soon back to schooling...ugh. I'm looking forward to playing some of the official adventures, as I haven't touched any of them yet. Also  looking forward to just playing some D&D.  Not having to put 20+ hours into preparation for each session, because I was the dungeon master who wrote a novel for my players. Other important things about me; I play blue in MtG so you know I'm an asshole. Purple is the best colour, no exceptions.Sushi is my favorite food, but I'm a poor college student and cannot afford it... this causes problems at home. Chandeliers are not allowed to be pokemon. I'm generally awesome. I think that's it. I look forward to the game and meeting all of you.
Hi everyone, I am 39 and my name is Mike and by day I work as a network administrator for a local medical clinic. I live in Mississippi. I own my on home but lease out a few rooms to a roommate. (So i feel your pain for the pain in the ass roommate)  Like everyone else here it seems, i have a pet dog. His name is Argo and he is a 1 year old Rottweiler who loves to play ball when not chasing the squirrels in the yard. I have played RPGs since my teens off and on. I enjoy the interactive story aspect of D&D. Playing video games can be fun and all but with D&D you have free choice to respond or act as you wish. While in video games we are always limited to what was programmed into the game. I have been DM'ing a RL tabletop game the last 5 years but my current group is going to be breaking up in a few weeks. One of the couples is having a baby. I signed up for Roll20 a few months ago to try and find a good group to game with on a regular basis where I could be a player again. The extra homework involved with being a DM can burn you out after a while.
Hi gang, I'm Brian, a 32 year old Army combat veteran, Software Engineer, father of two daughters (ages 11 and 12), and husband to a goddess among mortal women. I live in Orange County, California after around 4 years of living and working in Norway. I played D&D a bit as a kid, but was never able to be in a consistent group. Now I've started playing again and am really enjoying it quite a bit. My daughters have also shown interest and play with me and some regulars at our local Magic store on Wednesday nights. I joined Roll20 recently in order to see if I can't meet with a more consistent group of people to play D&D, especially on nights where my girls are not feeling up to going to the Magic store to play there, as well as to get to play more often :) I'm most comfortable playing "shady" characters, like the Chaotic Neutral or even Chaotic Evil archetypes which gel nicely with rogues and necromancers. In every RPG I play, I roll a rogue and/or a warlock/necromancer. Maybe it's because of my infatuation with all things concerning death and "darkness." For me, it's less about mechanics and more about story. I'm not one of those people that min/maxes their build or takes the "cookie-cutter" approach. I like to try different things, even if there's an obvious detrimental effect to my character, because I like the challenge of working through or around a character's flaws rather than following some boring path. Those characters which have to overcome something in themselves always make for the best story arc contributors. I also almost always side with the villain in every video game and movie (obviously I stick with the group in group play, so no worries about me trying to sabotage anything in-character), I just identify and sympathize more with comic, movie, and video game villains than with the heroes because the villain is interesting on their own whereas the heroes are only interesting because of their villain/arch-enemy. Anywho, that's me in a nutshell. I'm glad to meet everyone and I look forward to our next session!
Hey guys I'm Steven, and apparently old as fuck. 41, wife, two midgets, and in the process of moving from Savannah to Virginia.  Only enough I have no pets, I'm a house husband, and have been rping for almost 30 years now.  I'm making a human rogue and I'm pretty awesome all around so you're all very lucky to have the opportunity to meet me.  Anyway, looking forward to playing guys!
Who let the old dude in here?  Good luck with the move!  Sounds like this rogue is going to be a charmer... ;)
