D&D 3.5 Character Roll - Hands on Assistance?

I played D&D 3rd Edition back in the 1990s, and it looks like it's been deprecated with the introduction of 3.5 Edition. I also haven't played D&D in 20 years, and have forgotten a lot of what I've learned. I feel very much behind the curve in trying to prepare myself for my first D&D campaign in two decades. With that said, is there a kind soul who wouldn't mind taking me under their wing to show me how to roll a 3.5 Edition compliant character? Maybe go through the tricks of the trade, showing me the "best" way to create my character? Thank you in advance! =)
Entropy -- I would be glad to offer any assistance I am able to provide. Can you share any details/prerequisites of your character generation process?
Here is a website that might give you some ideas : http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/3.5e_Optimized_Charac... It covers most roles and types, disclaimer, I have never used any of these characters, I prefer to come up with my own, so I don't know how good/bad they are first hand, but I have friends that swear by them. Thank you both for your responses! -- Daniel, that website you linked is terrific. Tons of information in there and those character builds look pretty fun to play. Looks I have some reading to do! ;) -- Syrus, Thanks very much for the assistance. I'll PM you shortly.
