[PF] Problem with attack penalty

August 10 (8 years ago)
Hello guys.

I am currently creating a character for our pathfinder adventure here in Roll20. My problem is that I don't know where I can fill that -2 attack penalty in. My character will use an tower shield and I cant find an adequate slot in the character sheet. I know that I can put it in the notes but I want the program to solve it automatically and correct. I would be glad if someone could help me and I know my english sucks :/

there are two easy ways to add a -2.
Way 1: you are always wielding the tower shield when in melee, this is the easiest way. Go to the Attacks tab, and in the top section enter a -2 in the Misc column. As in the first screenshot below.

Then in the attacks rows for each attack you add, pick "melee" as the "Attack Type". Then the -2 will be applied automatically. (in the small inset in the screenshot).

Way2: create a "buff" row. Click on "set buffs" to expand the buffs area, then "add" buff. click on the circled areas in the screenshot to add a "melee" buff of -2. This will also be applied to all melee attacks, but it is easier to turn on and off by checking and unchecking the "enabled" checkbox. Plus you can add a name to it so you remember the -2 is because of the tower shield.
You must also pick "melee" (or you can also pick "alt melee" ) in the dropdown for each attack row just as the above method.

Thank you very much. That helped me a lot mate. I got confused because there was an slot in the defense class called "Attack penalty". Didn't know how to put the -2 in there but with your methods it finally works and iam satisfied with the result. Thanks!

That attack penalty is only if you are wearing armor you are not proficient in, which is rather rare. Maybe we should hide it if it is zero, since it can confuse players, you are not the first to ask how to add in the -2 from a tower shield.
