View only or Observer Mode

I did not see anything when trying to search for this specific feature but is it possible in Roll20's current build that a DM can invite a player (or multiple in this case) as having view only i.e. cannot chat or basically an Observer mode so they can see what the game and current players are like without having too much chat spam by them or distractions to current players in the group. These players are interested in playing but not committed to until they see how the game environment and players are. So they do not have characters and do not wish to make them until they scout the game first. So for this reason I would like to know if it is possible to restrict their privileges so that they do not disrupt the game with too much text or questions (as they will be using Skype chat for direct questions to DM about game).

I've done this – sit in as an observer in a friend's game. I just hit the mute button and was polite enough not to interrupt except through the occasional chat question. I think if you just hold them to sort of a gentleman's agreement not to misbehave, that should be enough. An observer mode would be a cool feature, though.
Ehh so no sure way of doing this other than hoping they don't flood chat or disrupt the game otherwise I am taking it. Well thanks for the fast reply.

There is no way of restricting a member of the game that way at this present time. They are either a player or gm or they are not. An observer or spectator mode would be nice to have. Have you post it as a suggestion in the suggestion/idea forum?
It may be possible to prevent them from chatting via the API, but I'm not sure.

If an "observer" gets out of hand you can kick them out of the game (campaign details page) and then have all of your players refresh. He will not be in the game after that. - Gauss

that is one way. The cool thing about twitch.tv is their chat board for the live games. I've chatted with people through that.
