AoE Placement

Hello, I'm fairly new to the Roll20 system. I've been using it for about a month now with a small group of friends and the experience is becoming much better for us after each session. I'm constantly looking for ways to improve our sessions, streamline processes through API and macros, etc.. I'm posting to see how people are handling area of effect spells and such. What are some suggestions for determining placement of a 20' radius circle, or a 15' cone on the map? Just seeing if there is anyway I can have these objects prepared already for placement and usable by the player characters.

My group generally just lets the player use the drawing tools to show the area of effect. Emile and I were working on a script to do this a while ago, although we didn't finish it.

We're doing this as well in our campaign. It just seems to slow the game down for us every time we have to lay down an AoE. Would be cool to have an option to bring up a list of pre-determined effects that is readily available for people to just throw down on a map.

ipcmd0 , you could create images with the commonly used area affects. Then link each to a character sheet as default tokens. - Gauss

Don't forget to tag them with AoE Template or something similar to make them easier to find.

Thanks for the tip! Created a number of default templates that the players are able to control for AoE. Now I'm thinking it would be nice to be able to sort the Character Tab. Right now doing it by using tags like <AoE>, <Monster>, <etc>.

I was just dropping in a token and setting the Aura for things like grenades.
