What sort of map tricks are you trying to pull off, Ashe? A grid square in Roll20 is 70px by 70px. You can align grids with our Align to Grid tool. The transparent swatch for the shape and freehand drawing tools is the far bottom right swatch. If you mouse over it, it'll say "transparent". Regarding images that you're uploading with a transparent background, that requires a PNG image type. PNGs allow you to save a graphic with transparency settings.
Honestly im just trying to get the pixel ratios down , and import them from my files without them being stratched. I have noticed a huge difference if i upload a pic then set it to back ground it reduces image size, but when i dragon drop it directly from my desktop its normal size. Do you use a specific tool outside of roll20 to map or have you made your own custom tiles? I tried using http://pyromancers.com/dungeon-painter-online/ made 1 dungeon worked out okay the transer over was kinda adaptable. Some tiles i used Paint on are workable. I do have cartographer3 and maptools tho also paint.net.

It's recommended that if you got a specific dungeon in mind, that you design it outside Roll20 and then import it back in as one big image. The more graphic items you got in a campaign, the more processing power it takes for you and your players to load and sync up. If you want your graphics to pop to its true dimensions you can force it by right clicking on an image to bring up a roll-out menu. Click on "Advanced" and then "Set Dimensions". There, you can force the image to a specified pixel or unit height and width.
Actually ive realized if i dragon drop them directly from my cpu to the site it puts them in without resize so the distortion is gone
Does this work for hex maps?
