I'm just checking if there's anyone interested in Starting a game (I'd GM unless someone else wanted to) The game times would be some time after 4:30 (gmt -5) Monday - Thursday. Or maybe at sometime during the weekend if we get a lot of people asking for that. We'd play weekly and the campaign will just go on till its done or we lose interest. We'd use at least voice, ideally voice and cam (it makes for more dynamic interaction). The game will be heavy on RP in the sense that there should be little talking out of character once the game gets going and little to no metagaming. Also we'll have some moments to just have the players characters talk with each other (camp or whatever). Also the game will focus more on making a cool story together rather than the GM just providing a virtual world for the players to fool around in. That's why people with GM experience are most welcome. No experience with the system is necessary (dungeon world is very easy to learn), though it is welcome. I've GMed a lot with Dungeon World. I haven't used Apocalypse world. So we'll have to do some modding and figure things out as we go. The rules will be a bit flexible at first until things are tweaked to work well with the setting / game objectives. I like a system that keeps the narrative flow, all rolling and rules should pretty much go unnoticed. Also since the setting is going to be out of control I'll giving lots of opportunities to the players to describe events/scenes etc (also this is just part of the system of DW). Note: I've never done a setting other than fantasy so there much will be new for me. The game will be sandbox style but stuff will be happening in the world whether irregardless of you characters decisions. The setting: 2016 - Monday morning. You're sitting in a traffic jam trying to get into town to get to work... joy. You see a strange red ripple in the sky. It's as if some sort of translucent blanket is falling upon the earth.Your heart pounds - its getting closer. People start getting of their cars, some are filming it, others are screaming, some are running into buildings. You're frozen in your seat. Something is happening. Then in a flash the wave passes through the world. All turns black, you feel electricity burn through your body. When you open your eyes everything has changed. Red clouds now loom over the sky. A strange tentacled castle city hovers over the bridge. It's being bombarded by bizarre battleships. You don't have time to see more because a car lands in front of you. You look behind you a giant armored praying mantis thing is throwing cars at a girl who's trying to run away and hides behind different cars. You get out of the car and run up to her to help. "Is this hell?" she asks. Lightning flashes over head. The mantis roars in pain. You look at where the lightning came from. A reptilian man with clothing that looks like its from a Charles Dickens novel points a smoking pistol at the mantis which crashes to the ground. The creature croaks, "Welcome to the apocalypse my friends." This is the day our world was woven into the apocalypse. Slowly all worlds are being tied together for what will be the end of all. As far as the story goes I'd prefer if everyone interested would like to play at least a neutral character leaning toward good if not an outright good character. One of the themes would be that in the final battle there is no more room for neutrality. And I don't like GMing an evil group - it weirds me out. There will be everything, fantasy, futuristic stuff, steampunk, enchanted AK47s etc. The feel of the campaign will be the forces of light blazing against a surrounding deepening darkness - a torch blazing in the dead of night. It'll hopefully bounce back and forth from lighthearted moments to the more dramatic. I'm thinking 4 players (maybe 5) +gm. Let me know what you think.
