Images suddenly broken, how to avoid

I have lots of images of different file types suddenly appear broken. Yes, they worked before - I sorted those cards into decks before or had them as tokens. It happened a while ago with a few and I thought maybe it was an upload mistake, but they are there since half a year now and worked before. It's not just that they appear gone in the side view, I can't drag them on the table either. Any idea how to prevent this happening? I dread the idea of having to reupload and resort 100s of images.

Have you removed images from your Library recently?
I deleted a bunch of old files permanently. And yes, I had to remove/ rearrange images in the Library a lot because adding files t folders doesn't work as it should so they end up outside the folders. But I didn't tuch any of those which now have issues.

I'm talking about here: https://marketplace.roll20.net/library rather than the in game one.
No, I tend to delete images as I happen to come across them instead of planned clean outs :-)

Have you deleted images via the Recent Uploads section of My Library on the Art Library side bar in game?
Yeah

Removing them from there will remove them from everything. Have you removed any of the tokens/cards that have stopped working?
No. They are there but broken.

I have an image in my Library that appears in My Library but can't be dragged to the map, and a Mook that had the image as its avatar and default token got a broken image icon in the Journal. The image was from the Pro Set "It's Getting Dark Here…" and was a black bird holding an eye in its beak by the optic nerve. I think the thumbnail is still there but the regular image has gone. I haven't deleted anything from my image Library by any method, that I'm aware of. If I open a game and search for the tag "Raven" it shows up with the name "thumb.png?1410877466"
I thought that the broken images were largely because of changes to the website. Then again, the resources that I used to use just sort of went away.

I have a similar issue. There are files that I've used as tokens before that suddenly appear broken. Screenshot: http://prntscr.com/cbm0kn

Hmm, this seems like a wider spread issue. Grimtina, does this match your experience?
Yes, all of the images were in use.

Ok, I'll escalate this to a bug report then.

Can you give me a specific example from your library where this has happened. One that you find suspect?
I put some of those images in a folder labeled "suddenly broken" Could not move all of them as my unsorted images refuse to load anymore.

The adjacent JPG and PNG formatted images appear to be working.

All the files in that folder are not .jpg or .png files and should never have worked. I'd recommend converting the files to .jpg or .png formats and re-uploading them.
If you are referring to me, the format isn't the issue. I have a lot of broken jpgs as well.
Images are still broken, and I can't even sort them out because the recent uploads do not load for me when I am trying to blend out already sorted stuff. I would need those images shortly.

The wiki is incorrect. That's a fan created page. We'll have someone correct it. Often times single image gifs will load and get interpreted as a single picture. Often times it won't which is why it's not an officially supported format.
But most of my broken pics aren't gifs... and they worked before. Thanks to the issue with my library STILL not showing my images I cannot even sort them out, or replace them, or sort ANY of my images. Currently the library is basically useless for me and I need to reupload and delete images I can't find anymore. My RoboRally project is on indefinite hold because I will need a working library for the boards and cards.

The wiki is incorrect. That's a fan created page. We'll have someone correct it. Often times single image gifs will load and get interpreted as a single picture. Often times it won't which is why it's not an officially supported format. As an addendum/minor-correction to this, Roll20 has had loose support for GIF file types. Unlike JPG and PNG files, GIF files are less structured and restrictive then their other web-graphic counterpart file types. That is why some GIF files will upload onto Roll20 without any trouble at all while others will outright fail. It's a graphic type that plays very loosely with its data content. We'll be amending our documentation and interface to say that, while you can upload GIF files to Roll20, we can't reliably claim that each and every GIF file you want to upload will work. For reliability, you'll want JPG or PNG files. Nothing on our back end was changed in regards to how images are uploaded when the Art Library update was released. What was changed was how uploaded content was sorted and arranged on the platform, which appears to be where Grimtina's issues currently are.
So, how to fix this then? Currently I can't even sort the broken images in folders to replace them.

Would you like us to manually delete the broken images in your library for you, since these appear to be causing the functionality issues with your art library?
Oh that would be wonderful, yes please!

We should have your folders cleaned up now, Grimtina. Give it a look and let us know if we missed anything.

In the process of checking - and I now found out all the wrong names the site gave my tokens are actually there and not just a wrong lookup. This is depressing. I have my tokens now labeled unrelated stuff like "fireball" "Virgin Island" "rail track" or "castle wall" (all people), "sea turtle" pokemon day" "Tavern day" (all items) etv - how could this even happen? Obviously names from someone else as I never labelled anything such.
