Post Character Max: I exceeded it

I tend to write long posts, and I recently found out the maximum number of Characters allowed. I still wish to make my post but am unsure what is the best method to do so. Is it better for the discussion if I split up my original post and make multiple posts. Or is it better if I simply attach a file. I know its best if I don't post it at all.... : ) but it is important to me. Let me know. i don't want to physically disrupt the discussion further.

If this is in regards to a forum thread, your best bet is to split your discussion in half and post it while trailing with an open ellipses. Then post the second half of the discussion in the next post of the thread, beginning with an ellipses. If you post within a short enough period of time, your thought should flow without any other posts interrupting it.

Like so: Post 1: The quick brown fox... Post 2: ...jumped over the lazy dog.
Thank you for responding so quickly Kristin. The response time of the Moderators has been very nice. Thank you all for your hard work. I am sorry. Yes I was talking about a forum thread. Um..... Unfortunately splitting the post in half will not.... um... fit either. I did not want write it that long but I consider its contents important to read. It um... is the size of a 4 page single space word document..... I could follow your suggestion. I did figure it was something simple and efficient like that. If I did it that way though, I would take up the thread even more than I already have. I don't want to do something like that especially if it has a negative impact on other users and the moderators. Is attaching a file the best thing? I ask because I want to keep a Moderator involved in this very unique instance.

It um... is the size of a 4 page single space word document. 0_0! Well, then. It's important to keep in mind that a web forum isn't the best medium for the variety of news article-length posting that you want to get out there. Short, sweet efficient posting is key to getting your point across on a web forum. If there's too much to read, a user will skim your post at best or skip it entirely at worst. It also makes commenting rather difficult too due to so much material to cover or counter-argue. A forum is all about a give and take of communication between many users. I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to convey or in what thread, but if you've got that much to say, you might want to link to a google document or attach a document to your forum post. Just be prepared that some of the user base might skip over your response entirely due to its own length. A good rule of thumb is: Don't use a page that you can better express in a paragraph. Don't use a paragraph that you can better express in a sentence.
Yeah I totally agree. Short and sweet is the best. Sadly that can not always happen to me because of my own issues. Don't worry, I know people will skip it . I think you just need at least one person to read something and get something from it to be meaningful. That is just me though. I am new at this and still learning. Thanks for your help again Kristin.
