Hello everyone! I'm part of a group of experienced players (24-27 years old, about 12-14 years of gaming) that has been experiencing some scheduling problems, and it has caused our latest campaign to grind to a halt. There are three active players in the group, and too often at least one of us can't attend a session. The loss of even one player in such a small group is having a noticeable effect on what we can accomplish in-game. So, we're looking for 1-2 people to join our group for the long-term. We figure that a slightly larger group will make it easier to run a session if a few players are absent. We may even take on as many as three players if there is enough interest. We are starting from scratch, with a new campaign and likely a new GM (from among our current group of four). We've enjoyed Pathfinder in the past, and will likely be playing it again. We won't be starting our new campaign until Saturday, September 24th, by which time we'll have the details worked out. For now, we want to ensure we have enough people to get it off the ground. Game Details: While we are not 100% sure on who will be our next GM, here are some things that will be true no matter what game we are running or who will be running it: Barring a sudden change of heart, Pathfinder is the system of choice. We
are somewhat open to suggestion, but note that we are not fond of 4e. We are very new player friendly, and are willing to devote an introductory session to teaching new players the basics. You can come to the table empty-handed, and we will happily help you put a character together. We tend to have a mix of action and roleplay in our games. Realistically, you should expect slightly more roleplay than action. We prefer long campaigns over shorter adventures. Our campaigns tend to last between six months and a year, at least, so we're looking for people who are willing to make a big commitment. Typically, we discuss the campaign and setting with each other before coordinating to generate characters. You are welcome to have a character you want to play in mind before coming to the group, but are encouraged to chat with us first to see what you might enjoy playing in the given session (and given what the rest of the party may look like). If you are generating a Pathfinder character in advance, we use high fantasy point buy (20 points), no third party material unless approved by GM (you should probably just not bother), and you do not roll for hit points (instead, use the average value of the HD, rounded up. 1d8 becomes 4 HP/level, 1d10 is 6/level, etc). The latter is the only house-rule we currently use. Campaign details will be provided in the aforementioned introductory session. Adult Content: -Our GMs avoid "shock value" when running games. That is to say that they use sexuality, racisim, excessive gore, or other potentially offensive material only when it makes sense for the story, and even then as tastefully as possible. -Our GMs typically don't mind players who incorporate any of the above themes into their roleplaying, as long as it is tasteful and contributes in some meaningful way to the character or the story (the GM is the judge of what is tasteful and respectful). Tech and Setup: -We typically use Skype to communicate, but will switch to Discord if anyone is having problems. Talk only, we do not do video chat. Timing Details: We run our game every Saturday evening at 5:30 EST (we can reschedule for earlier the same day to accommodate you, but we can't change the day nor move to later in the evening). Sessions are cancelled if at least half of the players will be absent, and this information will be made available via the campaign forum at least three days in advance excepting emergencies. If a session is cancelled, the remaining players often meet on Steam for some alternative game (typically Tabletop Simulator). Please feel free to ask questions! I'll try to get back to you as quickly as I can. Looking forward to talking with you, future roleplay buddies!
