Looking for a Theater of the Mind Game.

I have been playing DnD since the end of 3.0. I've played 3.0,3.5, and Pathfinder. I'm kind of getting tired of DM's using maps to tell you whats goijng on. I'm basically trying to fijnd a game that uses less maps and more description "old school style" i guess is what I'm getting at. I've never played 1st or 2nd edition. I've always wanted to but alas i don't have too many books from those editions. My schedule is open from Mon-Thur. Please let me know if anyone is throwing an old fashion game.

If you want a more "descriptive" game, while it really depends only on the GMs and players, D&D might be the wrong place to look for it altogether. There are systems that require a lot more RPing both from the players and the GMs, but would fill that kind of game you are looking for. Sadly they are not popular here as people don't want to immerse themselves in role play experience, most care only for rolling the dice. A system like FATE (first that come to my mind, but there's a ton of others) requires you to narrate pretty much every action you make, even if you just use a sword or a gun to attack, you are supposed to say how you do things. In FATE Accelerated it is not only advised, it's mandatory, because the GM needs to know how to respond to your action. To do an action, for example an attack with a sword, you can do it pretty much in 6 different ways and based on the context, it will change the situation.
