I've looked over and over again for a suggestion thread already in place and this is the closest I could find. It's not really what I'm suggesting, so I've made a new thread. This is a bit lengthy, so bear with me. Basic premise: To create a segment of the Marketplace that showcases user-generated maps assembled with Marketplace assets. I'm envisioning something along the lines of "Like this map? (List of packs) were used in its creation. (X) price (total cost of packs used minus cost of packs already owned by the viewing account) is what it will cost to play this map." When the user downloads the map, any packs used that are not owned are purchased, and the user can select which campaign they want the map to appear in from a dropdown menu. If the user already owns all the packs involved, they simply go straight to selecting a campaign they're DMing in. Further thoughts: While at first glance it might seem awkward to have a potentially ($20.00) map, if you already own a ton of packs, or search for maps using mostly packs you already own, the price might be $0, $4.99 for the one pack that you're missing, etc. This way, the artists involved are being properly paid for their work. Most of the pre-generated structures on the Marketplace are simply square, while the individual pieces included in the same pack might offer angles and rounded pieces that go mostly unused in the pre-generated maps. Because of this, I personally tend to gravitate toward the free pre-assembled rooms that already have placed furniture and other amenities, and I do my best to add clutter from my purchased packs. It's a wicked time sink -- I want my players to have visual treats when they open the game, but I don't really want to spend an hour looking through rugs when I fully admit that I can match colors with the best planks of wood out there. On the other hand, I know that my noble's manor would probably have about 20 stylish rugs, and at least one is hiding a secret entrance per my session notes. There are a lot of folks who enjoy this kind of creativity, why not let them shine? On that note, this setup would allow another sub-community to thrive, giving excellent scene-builders the opportunity to make a reputation for themselves as go-to map makers. If that person has a preferred art style, it would only increase revenue for their preferred artists, introduce new and creative ways to reuse the same assets, and...one of the things I have noticed over and over again is how many content creators are begging for feedback. Map makers would provide stellar feedback. (i.e. Hey, a damaged water wheel would really add to the mystery on my next project, think you could throw one in your next pack?) There are bound to be people who see that new asset and think it's cool enough to warrant a purchased pack even if they never use/see the map that fueled its creation. Next, if fully rendered, randomly generated maps are a blurry, mirage-esque thing on the horizon, this is not far from it once a wide variety of maps become available for download. As a final note, it could be similar to what current content creators go through in terms of application -- an aspiring map maker might submit several completed maps for approval in order to keep this section of the Marketplace high quality and agree to use only Roll20 approved assets. This would help to avoid yet another image-slog, and would prevent unscrupulous creators from stealing artwork from around the internet and using it without permission -- they would be vetted before being allowed to share.
