[LFGM/LFP - D&D 5E Homebrew] - |Living Campaign|Unlimited Slots|Weekly Games|New Players & GMs Welcome!

Edited 1473858080
Welcome to my post ladies and gents! I'd like to start off by thanking you for checking out my post and hopefully you'll decide to join us for some fun, non serious gaming sessions during the weekends/weekdays. There's going to be "a lot" information here for you to read, so stick with me! This is a Roll20 campaign! I'm a DM with over 3000+ hours logged!(I thought I'd put this here just so there isn't any confusion, the links in the post are only there for reference for our house rules and home-brewed content.) Let's go ahead and get the basics out of the way. PLAY TIMES : Undecided. Right now I'm focusing on recruiting players and GMs, I'll take 4-5 players for every GM we have who is willing to run a game. I'm personally looking at Wednedsay or Thursday and probably start times of 3:30-4:30 PM, very flexible with times and willing to work with players though. What are we looking for? : Dungeon Masters old and new who'd like to participate in world building, you're welcome to run games in this setting and because of the vague nature of the timeline and the history you're basically free to do what you'd like. Keep in mind that there is a 'DM' guide in the works for this setting, a short document that details the dos and don'ts of Ainerth. We're also looking for players who'd like to join us! New, old, returning, it doesn't matter to us. Come in and give us a shot maybe you'll enjoy yourself. Grab a beer some snacks and let's kill some monsters and explore the world. A small portion of the living campaign world. The world map will be much larger with rules for traveling, gathering and managing supplies while on the road and random encounters based on the roll of a die. The Living Campaign: What is a living campaign? You could compare a living campaign world to today's MMORPGs, even when you're not logged in the world continues to move forward with or without you. Quests and story-lines can be completed throughout the week and it's very much a drop-in and drop-out experience. We're going to be playing as often as we can and the story-line will move forward regardless of who's there and who isn't. We also have a number of 'metagame' resources located on our website we use to encourage our players to contribute to the world building and development of their characters. We use achievements that reward prestige points (experience), new abilities, crafting systems, property ownership and more. Player choice is key to making this work. Your choices will matter and will have a lasting impact on the game world and the story-line as we move forward. What types of games do you run? D&D 5th Edition - Ainerth is a semi-sandbox adventure set in the mishmash fantasy world of, well, Ainerth. Players will have more or less total freedom to visit most Ainerth locations of their choosing be they cities, dungeons or points of interest on the map. From time to time, there will be story events where players are guided to important quests or interesting dungeons where treasure, danger, and puzzles await them. There will be a mixture of quests, guided stories and dungeon crawls in this campaign. Each and every session will be different - sometimes combat will be the focal point while other times quests and RP heavy scenarios will be played out. You're okay with a number of  house rules that expand on the game that is already there, many of them making the game much more difficult. You want a sandbox role-playing game where you choose a hex on the map and drop down ready to explore. You're okay with change. We're often adding in new class archetypes, races, maps, lore and other information! Sometimes this means your character might see retroactive changes to abilities or scores. We're always balancing/tweaking our game! The world doesn't adhere to 'levels'; you may very well be adventuring into territory where a powerful troll has made his home, just because you're level 1 doesn't mean he's going to scale to you so that he's a proper challenge. It's up to the players to decide when they want to run. You're okay with guns and sorcery and a lot of Gothic horror in your games. You're okay with dying while playing the game. Combat is deadly. You're okay with new class archetypes and races, with a number of the original races removed/re-skinned for the games setting. If you want to help us create the world while we play, the timeline and historical events of this setting are left intentionally vague. I'm looking for the players to help take part in this settings creation as we play. If you're okay with using VOICE chat - we use Discord. You're an adult who is okay with crude language being used at the gaming table and a little bit of OOC banter while we play. You're looking for a fun, non serious gaming experience where the rule of cool is king. You're okay with 100% theater of the mind combat. WE DO NOT USE GRIDS/MOVEMENT SPEED! We use 'range bands'. If you feel that role-playing your character, exploring the world, figuring out mysteries and seeking out lost treasures and knowledge is a better way to advance your character than simply through fight after fight. Alternate Experience point system that rewards tactical prowess and completing goals as a group. Meta-Game, and I'm not talking about using knowledge outside of the game to further your goals within. I'm talking about features like 'Inspiration' that has no other point of being in the game other than because it's a fun mechanic and a way to reward the players for playing their characters well. We've went a step further and have created a number of achievements, land ownership, and a few other systems that you're welcome to take part in but it's totally fine if you don't. You're looking for a 100% genuine 5e experience set in the Forgotten Realms. You're a rules lawyer or you read through the monster manual while we play. "That goblin shouldn't have a bow!" You're looking for a hardcore role-play experience where everybody is in character 90-100% of the time with little OOC banter. You can't use voice or you aren't willing to use voice. Typing is FINE, but only if you're able to speak as well. You're not okay with most of the in-character role-play going on in text/chat and voice being used to communicate with the DM. If you've actually read these that's good, when you respond please post 'silverstrand' before your post to be acknowledged. If your purpose for playing Dungeons and Dragons revolves entirely around tactical combat or you enjoy grid based combat. If you don't like the idea of being able to shoot a goblin in the face with a flintlock pistol. If you're playing a character who is evil or more interested in their own goals than that of the parties, it's okay to be the renegade outsider but not if it means your goal is back-stab or kill the party in the process. The Cosmology of Ainerth : For eons, time did not exist in the Vast Darkness, a place of unimaginable silence, stillness, an immense space of nothingness. Two great creators of unknown origin would eventually come to shape the stars, planets, and life itself. Ein'Sof was subtle and unifying, able to shape and create new realities in this dreamless age. A'kor was volatile and expansive, giving birth to time and creating new complexities, syllables that would eventually give meaning to words capable of commanding power that no mortal could ever comprehend. These two creators worked tirelessly for an unknowable, fluid amount of time. It was then that the world of Ainerth was shaped, woven into a tapestry of immense beauty - physical laws began to structure around this creation. In this newly lit universe, a consciousness coalesced and with it brought predictability to the cosmos. This singular being of creation was the only mind in a vast, lonely, captivating universe. It began to explore the galaxies and stars, utilizing the language of the creators and forming the syllables into new command words. The consciousness first gave itself a name, Seraph. Seraph lit stars and molded planets and traveled through space and time in an attempt to replicate the beauty that the creators had sought to form. Seraph attempted to create begins like itself and failed. They still wait in the dark places between galaxies; blind idiot gods full of potency and loathing.
Hi, this whole campaign looks amazing and i'd love to join in and play but i'm only available on Saturdays and Sundays so if you ever have those days available please let me know.
Sounds good, Nick! With any luck I'll get a few more people interested and after that we can have a discussion about the best time for everybody to play. If Saturday or Sundays pan out, I'll be the first to let you know!
Disclaimer: Silverstrand Hello there. I've been a longtime fan of Tabletop Roleplaying without a group, save for one longrunning campaign in the Warhammer setting and universe. So one could say I'm a bit out of touch by now, especially with 5E and the DnD system in general. I /am/ however, a huge fan of worldbuilding and story. This idea here actually reminds me of the Adventurer's League and the idea that my character could have a lasting impact on a world intrigues me.  If you'd have a newbie onboard; I'd gladly adventure through whatever godforsaken hellhole or fantastic Brass Palace one would present me with. I can play /usually/ on any weekday, my schedule is fairly flexible.
Super-secret code word: silverstrand Hello! I'm new to TRPGs (seen plenty of games that were streamed, but never played myself) and I'd love to join this campaign. However, I work third shift (I'm in EST) and my work schedule is fairly chaotic, so timing could be a problem. But on the off chance that I'm not the only late night/morning player, and you don't mind the inexperienced, I'm interested.

silverstrand I'm looking to join a new game to play in and this one sounds fun, I am in the AEST (UTC+10) time zone but have a flexible schedule so if that works I hope to be apart of this. I have played 5e and 3.5e before as both player and DM and like to focus more on the rp more then the combat.
Silverstrand. This sounds pretty outstanding. It would be my pleasure to join your campaign and impact your world. I have a good amount of experience in 5e, so you won't need to worry about my knowledge of mechanics. I have read through your home brew rules, and I love most of them. I've always been of the mindset that the DM should change subtle things based on what would make sense or be "cooler". I'm not a rule whore in any sense. DM has final say, in my opinion. In terms of being a GM, I have no experience at all, but I've been looking into possibly trying my hand at it for a few months. Obviously this is something that would need to be discussed further. As far as available times, I am currently available pretty much any time other than late Saturdays (CST), and Thursdays.
Hey guys, glad to see interested folks! I'll actually be sending a private message to you guys pretty soon with more details/application!
silverstrand I have limited TRPG experience and none of that online. I GM'd a handful of games for a group of friends. I have been interested in playing for a while now, and the setting and concept sound very intriguing. I have a consistent schedule and am available any day after 3:30 PM EST
silverstrand. 100% new to d&d but would love to have this be my start. availability can be flexible but would be happy to fill out an application to give you a better idea
@Mikey M. Hey there bud, sounds good! I'll send you the application.
Silverstrand.  This sounds like it will be a lot of fun and hopefully have a great number of people to share in this adventure.  I'd be very happy to join as a player to start and then in time transition to helping DM if and when needed.  I've run a couple games in the past, but am rather rusty with 5E and would need some time as a player to get back into the swing of things.  The checklist and linked rules seem like they could make for a fascinating world and gameplay and I hope to be able to join you and others on this quest.
Silverstrand: Hey Ridrith! This looks incredibly interesting and I'd like to give it a go as a player, as I'm running my own campaign. I've played in something similar to this in the past, before it died out, and it was very, very fun. I'd love to apply and play given the opportunity.
Silverstrand Brand new to roll20, but looking for more adventures than my weekly Thursday campaign, so my DM guided me here.  Want to play different characters than I'm used to and this format is 100% fitting.  Wouldn't want to play with rigid rules and no fun.  I'm in it for a good time, but can't play until 5pm PST.  Please let me know if you have room for my wildcard tendencies.
I would be really interested in joining this. I am a returning player and i need to play a little bit before returning to to wonderful like of a DM
While I don't think this game is for me, I'd really like to know what you used to make that hex-map. I don't suppose it's a free program?
@New players! Happy to see even more folks are interested in the game. I've sent many of you the application process. I'm going to send out links to the game to most of you as well! Please keep in mind that as of now, we don't have a set day/time when the game will begin. There's some more world building that will need to be done first.
