Sam A., first off, welcome to roll 20. finding a stable game that will last beyond the first session is a little bit difficult, because of the nature of the player base and GM base. In my experience the GM isn't serious or the players are not serious, many times. Or someone is bored and jumps in and says let's play, but it just falls through. But when you can find a serious game, and players and GM commit to it, it works well. I didn't jump in here to be rude but your time just doesn't match mine, which is 4P-8P EST, for the hard SF RPG Traveller. So I'm posting here to show you that GM is with running games do see you, you're not being ignored. If you're really desperate to play push for Pathfinder or D&D 3.5. You can throw a stick and hit six of those on any given night. That is not a statement to malign those games, just that it seems to be fully 85% or more of what people are running or playing or seeking. I came to this site in early September 2013. I try to join the only Traveller game here. The GM said in about a day, "Sorry We're full." the next week I posted an ad for my traveler campaign. a few weeks later people started joining. Now I have two campaigns and almost full. so my experience is if you really want to have a game you got to push it, prepare for it, make an ad, commit to it, recruit players, follow-up on that recruitment, run the game. If you're looking to just play, message a specific GM like it is a job application with "what you will bring to their campaign." Ppeople that private message me with "Hey can I join?" and nothing else get lost in the pile of someone who says: - I've played Traveller - I like Traveller - I've always wanted to play Traveller - I love science fiction, and heard Traveller was cool can I join to try it for a session? - I'm looking for the books, man I can't wait. - With a character on .pdf, here's a character. I'd like to work with you to make it fit into your game. ALL the people now playing sent me something like that, and stuck with it. Variations on those themes of messages are put at the top of the pile of Applicants. If it so happens that the game is filled with people that are proactive and show enthusiasm, Initiative and energy before people that say only "Hi." or "Hey I'm a cool guy, can I join?" so be it; The game closes before I get to the "Hey can I join?" People. I've ran groups on and off line for 36 years, and it's always been that way. I don't want to have a player that doesn't put forth some effort because I put lots and lots in. If your times matched, I'd see what kind of concepts you might want to go with. But there are other groups that you might find. My games have players in US, UK and AUS, so that's why my times are weird. I put out the ads, and we matched up what times worked for the most people who wanted to put inthe most effort or just closely matched time. Sadly other players, One from Japan, had a time that didn't closely match, though they really wanted it to work out. Not their fault, It just wasn't going to work. Good luck in finding a game that meets your needs. Seriously. It can happen. There are players who would be more than happy to get into a stable RPG of most any genre because they live in remote areas, or far off countries and they can't make it to a face to face game. Sam A. See you on the forums. Maybe post on some of the threads, people get to know you, it is a community like any other community. Welcome.
