GM LFM AD&D 2nd Edition

Hello everyone, as the title says im looking for more people for an AD&D 2nd Edition game on maybe Sat-Sun. Its been a few years since ive GM'd. I would like to play on weekly basis as our lives permit. The world will be Darksun or non-canon forgotten realms. starting level 1-3. Will be mostly a dungeon crawl with mild roleplaying. But i do like to maintain some continuity with group make up. I would like to start within a week or 2. Any question's please ask! I am editing someone else's post. What is happening here?
Love to see a 2nd edition game here! I just wanted to dump a quick advice on you, you might want to take a day or two just for character generation and explaining Thac0 and other funky rules as negative AC being good. 2nd edition is one of my favorite editions though, and seeing a post about it here made my day. Thanks man :)
Pending timezone and playing time, I'm certainly interested.
Im in the GMT-8 timezone i have all day Sat-Sun, If more people show intrest we can agree on a time thats good for everyone. I would like to get a good 4 hours of playtime each session. I figure our first meeting we would come up with characters and chip some rust off the old books and go over the rules.

I have never had a chance to play the older editions so would love to give it a go, but I can only do 3pm - midnight on Saturdays in PST (I'm in the GMT time zone). I could also find some time here and there during the week to go over character gen and I would read over the rules (if I can find them) my self so as to not hold up the group.
The GMT + 0 timezome? Im in the GMT +1... I have no Idea what PST is related to GMT/UTC and would appriciate translation into the internationally used timezone references if possible?

PST is GMT-8 so the times I was talking about in my post are 23:00 - 08:00 in GMT
So far we have 3 people interested in playing. 1-2 more and we have a group in the making.
I would be up for playing. I haven't played very much of 2nd edition but I'm willing to learn again.
Wow, I am not compatible with Pigalot time-wise at all. I'm cool with dropping out, though.
I would hate to have anyone not play due to timezone's. Id love to have you Jason V. the system is easy to learn and relearn. what realm are people looking to play? Darksun or a Standard realm?
wow have not played darksun in forever

I would like to point out the times i put were in PST (GMT-8) as that's the timezone of the DM, i could do Fridays almost any time but the DM suggested sat or sun. But i cant do Sunday as i would have to goto work halfway through the game as it would be Monday morning for me.
Yes! I love Dark Sun and 2e, would love to play. I picked up 2e somewhat recently so the rules are still pretty fresh in my memory. I can wrangle my schedule to make the game whenever is best for the rest of the group.
I think the consensus looks to be Dark Sun, so lets go with that. I'm in the same timezone and I think a 4 hour or so session on Saturday would work.
I would be interested in playing but I have never played 2nd ed would you be ok with taking a newbie on? (GMT -4)
I'd love to join you, I'm open on Saturdays any time before 5PM GMT
Glad to see more people who want to play. sounds like most people are ok with Saturday. Im busy on Fridays and mondays for the most part. Can everyone list the time on Saturday's that would work for them?
Would this be with skype as well?
We can use Skype or Hangout. I have a teamspeak server. What ever the group would like to use.

We could use teamspeak if the group preferred i have a server we can use. edit: dammit midevil you sniped me :P
Midevil, maybe put up a schedule at doodle.com or equivalent that everyone can fill? How do you plan on handling communication? E-mail, Roll20 PM/campaign, Skype, IRC channel?
Looks like you are flush for players already, just a sec for kudo's on the pre 3.0 D&D. Feats suck. Go go 2.0.
So far i think there's 5 people interested. One person has gotten back to me on the type on character he wants to play. I think we could take on one more T M. if would like to play. For the tabletop we are going to use Roll20. I would like to use Teamspeak and email to communicate. If more people want to use skype then we can. id like every to have a mic or be able to pick one up. I put a schedule on doodle. let me know if it works. http://doodle.com/ngwbi5p7nkqdtdz3

The times are all ones I have already said I can't make so I'm backing out.
Sorry Pigalot, Ive added more times to the poll. If your still interested please look. To everyone else! I put a poll up on Doodle to try get an idea of a start time. Please head over there and fill it out. Each game should run 3-4hrs.
Dang. I'm more of long run gamer. 3-4 hours is an eye blink in a flowing game, an eternity otherwise. Thanks for the response though. Good fortune with it. Way to middle age, if not old-school. Feats suck. out
Have not played AD&D in forever as in more than 6 years, so my knowledge about the rules and all is very rusty, if you don't mind some questions from time to time I would love to join in, checked out the doodle time table and Saturday time fits me very well. Will add myself on it as Alex, hope its not to presumptuous of me.
I would love to have you Zanceki. i Think everyone's in the same boat. we are all releaning the system. i dont mind any question's. Ive added you to our little conversation please check your in box.
There are free OSR versions on Drive Through. The differences are minimal. You might consider the rather simple step of converting to ascending AC. That is usually about 90% of the sticking point. Most people already get ascending AC which is understandable, as the descending version/combat came from a naval war game.
Thats a nice set of rules. Might have to use them if i ever try to start another game. I was thinking about using the ascending Ac. But i think it comes to it breaking the feel of the Ad&d part of the game. Also when I'm teaching a new person Ive found it better to teach as printed in the books.
That is the usual sentiment. I'm the same way. Otherwise, may as well play something like "Dungeon Crawl Classics" which essentially makes the OSR more modern and user friendly mechanics wise, while keeping everything else, and dumping the extraneous like feats. Regardless, THACO ain't that hard. In the last resort, they can have the chart on their desktop or equivalent. Just a suggestion. "The play's the thing." As far as "old school, new rules" go, Spellcraft and Sorcery is the original digest box shizz
