Wanting to gauge interest - Introduction to Pen and Paper RPGs and Pathfinder for new players.

Hello there, I've been playing with this idea for a while and I'm wanting to gauge the community interest in it. I'm not asking for players right now, but would appreciate any voicing of interest or suggestions about the idea in general. I was thinking about running some one-shot roll20 games with the intention of introducing people who are totally new to Pathfinder or pen and paper RPGs to the game in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. Once I had a group of new players I would walk them through creating level 1 characters in Pathfinder, along with explaining the mechanics and role-play concepts behind character creation. I would then run them through a short starting adventure while explaining the basics of role-playing, game mechanics, player/GM roles and so forth. Once the adventure concluded they would be set with legal characters that could be used in other Pathfinder games along with general knowledge about the game allowing them to join other games with some confidence. I would likely run a number of these with a new group each game, maybe bi-weekly or so. (I chose Pathfinder because I personally prefer it, and it has many useful online resources players can reference without books or clumsy .pdfs) So what do you think? If you're a new player would you find this useful? Any suggestions or ideas?

(Pathfinder is a lot like D&D 3rd and 3.5 edition) :)

@ Mora. I run pfs games fairly regularly, and would be glad to contribute maybe once a month to something like this. If you need another gamemaster who is patient and willing to help set new people up, I am game.

Things are still a bit tentative right now, but once I've run one and see how things go, I'll let you know for sure if there's need.
I joined quite recently, just about an hour or so and i think its a great idea for beginners like me and many others. I am sure that alott of people would love to join one of these games to learn how things work (And i am one of them)
Thank you all who posted, it seems there are people interested in this so I will probably be doing the first one sometime next week, at which point I'll post a thread/LFG about it. I'll also send the new players who posted here a PM at that time, in case they are interested in participating. Thanks again for your feedback!
This sounds great! I'm new to this online format and would be really interested in a newb friendly game. Thanks!
I would love to do this! I love gaming. I love video games and tabletop, but I have never had the opportunity to play a pen and paper rpg. Hit me up if you are still doing this. I am currently at an internship so most nights I am free :)
Definitetly interested
I would like this
This is actually exactly what I need. I know many of the systems and how they work somewhat by themselves, but putting everything together without making mistakes along the line is really daunting to me.
As a DM, I could donate some time to this. I usually run Adventure paths, but I may be able to spend one night a week running things like the Beginner's Box dungeon or other simple intros, as well as running a group through character creation. Unfortunately, I don't have time to be constantly recruiting people for that, so if you ever put together a group of 3+ people who want to learn how to build characters, and/or run a quick dungeon, I've got the stuff for that.
I would like to be involved also.
I would be interested in a new player casual introduction game like this! thank you for the idea and time Mora :)
I'd be interested Mora.
I'd be interested too.
I would be interested.
I would be interested and love to play.
i would love to play to just started
I would be interested also, I'm trying to gain a better feel for RPG's in general and Pathfinder seems popular. That many people can't be wrong. Let me know ...
I would be very interested. I have never played a d20 game. I'm new to pathfinder and am familiar with the basics;but would like to be more comfortable. I am also interested in the gm'img aspect. I have all reference materials.
Just a quick note because I don't want to side track from the original post, we have been working a project to gather GMs for these types of things. Its still very new but since I saw a few GMs also chime in I wanted to drop a quick link for all GMs (or those interested in GMing) can join: https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/9618/gm-academy . Great thread Mora! :)
Sounds like a fantastic idea buddy, maybe I can help you out a bit, as I've been playing Pathfinder since it was released, and was playing 3rd/3.5 before that. Let me know if you're interested in me helping you with these one shot adventures etc, as I would be very willing to help out and run some, to further spread the cause :D

Hey everybody, I will definitely be moving forward with the first session some time this weekend (25th-27th), I will update this thread with more information closer to that date. To all the players interested: I would like to keep the numbers down for the first session in order to see how it goes and to work out any kinks to ensure a smooth process for future sessions. I will keep the names of everyone who has stated interest in this thread and if I don't contact you for the first session, I will be sure to contact you for following sessions. I also very much appreciate the offer of help from fellow GMs. I would like to see how the first session goes before asking for your time. It seems there is a fair amount of interest though, so it's possible we could organize something and be able to support some more players. For now I would prefer to keep it simple, but I will let you know. Thank you all for your replies! :) I will update this thread soon with further information on the first session and I will be sending PMs to interested players to work out availability. If I don't get to you this first session, I will be sure to contact you for following ones.
I'm new as well (I've only played games like Baldur's Gate, etc.) and would be interested in learning the Roll20 system & more about Pathfinder!

Hello there :) I'm very fresh when it comes to tabletopping. That is why i registered on this site, hoping that i can get some new experiences and try something so intriguing. I'm looking for some new campaigns that welcome new players atm. but i would definately like to practice a bit and get to know how character creation really works. It's lovely to see that people offer guidance here. TL;DR - I'm very interested in joining and I hope it will help me learn some things. Thank you ~ Riyalgo
I would be intrusted in this also.
I'm a little late to this thread, but I am really new to tabletop rpgs and would really be interested in this.
