LF Mutants and Masterminds

Hello all I would really like to play M&M 3e. I am new to it but have figured most of the character creation out now. I haven't play tested any combat or such things so you get yourself a fresh faced role player who is willing to learn and commit to games with new ideas and tokens for characters and if needed villains. It will be my first time playing M&M and hope to get into a game of friendly people and a GM with a well detailed fun story arc with twists and turns for us all to gasp at :) I have been creating characters with different dynamics and themes to them all, and at lower power levels in case a game isn't set at 10. I am in the UK (So GMT time zone). Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays are all free and can play any time after 8PM and end at very AM as I don't mind staying up late. I proffer Skye as the means to talk but i'm ok with using TS, or Discord at a push. If you need to contact me feel free to send a message but I don't mind giving my Skype to you after the initial contact message for easy chatting :)
i would also enjoy joining a M&M game, depending no when..had a char built..i never got to us, depending on times,  may be able to join
I'd also love to hop aboard an M&M game as a player. I like speedsters. That's pretty much all I got.
id like to join as a player as well
Nice to see some people want to play as well. I was in a game for Mondays but the GM canceled on us all :( Was really looking forward to my first M&M game. But I hope to see a game soon.
Im keen to play as well for tuesdays or mondays (depending on your timezone) haven't played before but the system seems simple enough and i always found it easy to work these things out. if no one is interested in running a game i can give it a try but as i said before havent played MandM so it may take a session or two to get everything right
I'm absolutely seriously interested. I'm down to play Mondays and Tuesdays. I'd like to play in a game that's not the standard capes and tights fighting Dr. Madman every week, I'd prefer a game with more narrative structure, maybe something high tech and cyberpunky? I've got a speedster character that I've been dying to play that's built for that sort of setting, but I can adapt.
@DJ Zero Well if you think you can handle GM'ing post a theme that you would like to run and are comfortable with and see what people think.

Yea that's the 99player type of game that tends to go no where. Lucky if you get a game or 2 out of that sort. Way to much spam to sift through for my liking
So been looking at different art work and made a folder with Superhero or Villain looks about them that im more than happy to share if a group does come around.
I'd be interested, schedule permitting.  I'm an old hand at M&M, and could probably run every so often, too (probably more of an interlude thing than a full blown campaign).   I do think a good superhero game needs a fairly concrete idea about tone, etc.  And, I guess if I'm going to be opinionated about it, I'd prefer something different than the standard crime model (think Spider-Man) that all M&M games go for.  But, that's just me.   Let me know what's up.
Crime model like Batman doing detective things to solve stuff before engaging bad guys. That sort of crime or we talking just street level kicking and punching people up like Spiderman tends to do. I would be cool with whatever. Would like to know what other sorts there is. If theres a rough list of styles that would be helpful
That's a really good question.  For the record, I'm not really opposed to anything.  I've got preferences, but they're mild ones.  And, I think it's better to express them than not.   One of the issues that comes up with superhero games are that the various characters feel like they're from different worlds.  Different games.  So, I'd advocate for some discussion and understanding beforehand just so that everyone feels like they're inhabiting the same universe.  That's pretty capacious, still:  Hawkman, Batman, and Steel all undoubtedly inhabit the same universe.  Spawn and Archie probably don't.  To be a bit more explicit, there was a game I was playing in before where most of us had kind of "classic" superhero motivations:  justice, morality, responsibility, etc.  And, one of the other PCs didn't seem to be all that interested in doing anything well ... heroic.   I could actually get behind both some investigation or some punching.  I think investigation is actually kind of hard to run, and M&M isn't built for making it a real feature of the game (cf. Gumshoe).  What I was referencing above is basically this.  Nearly all M&M games have the following abstract set-up:  the PCs are a newly-emergent group of heroes who are cleaning up the city from [insert series of criminals and supervillains here].  Roughly the Spider-Man origin story arcs.   There's nothing wrong with that.  It's a fine campaign set-up, and one that I've enjoyed and run a few times.  Just, given my druthers (and to be clear, I'm just one potential participant), I'd want something a bit different.  I think that's a narrow band of superhero storytelling, and I suspect there's more than a little bit of the ye olde D&D 1st level adventurers meet in a tavern lurking under the surface behind it.  Ideally, I'd like there to be at least the possibility of there being more of a sense of history (e.g., criminals know who Batman is, and have feelings about him), or really just some other options.   For instance, I'd love to play a game that was more Justice League/Avengers inspired, as I think that's where many of our favorite characters are from and I really loved the Timmverse cartoons.  And, I think it opens the door to some different, dramatic stories.  There are a few other options that occur to me, some that are more gritty or supernatural or dark, but really just something a bit different from the Spider-Manesque set-up I described above.  I do like the idea of the weight of the world (or city or nation) being on the PCs' shoulders, but few M&M campaigns, outside of the few I myself have run, embrace that.
As I said at the start, I haven't played any M&M so hearing some actual knowledge is a great thing for me :) I have played a lot of D&D (pretty much every edition) and I totally know where your coming from. There is a basic run down for starter games.  I would love a JLA style. Watch tower already up in space. The main super doing whatever the GM feels like (left earth for X reason, busy stopping X Super-Villains over the planet. Hell could be they got stuck on an alternate earth it all happens in DC). And the fledglings get a shot at saving the world for once. But i'm game for whatever, and will happily go along with the majority (other than if its to gruesome or horror movie themed) comic books rarely go full Evil Dead, Jason, Freddy or similarly bloody arc, and i'm not a fan of that. Throw in a Batman villain like Scarecrow, that's fine. Making people scared isn't the deal, but I think you understand what i'm trying to get at. I have plenty of ideas for characters. Ones with Powers that could easily fit in along side most things, no powers and gadgets for crime fighting stuff. Plenty of abstract ones that could be forward or backwards in time. Pretty much got my bases covered (provided i have understood the way char creation works lol) The only problem is I do not know the rules yet or played to fully get an idea of things haha
@Practicalities:  I can get a little ahead of myself.  But, scheduling-wise, Wednesdays and Thursdays work best for me.  I might be able to do Tuesdays, but I think those are spoken for already.  I'm in CST, and any time in the evening works fine.   I'm happy to help out GMing a bit, mostly in rules and background and running the occasional interlude.  Sorry to be noncommittal.  My work schedule is basically "all-consuming, like unto the dread lord Cthulu," and also involves a fair bit of travel, so the idea of running an actual ongoing campaign is simply beyond me.  And, given that creating an M&M character is a fun, but involved process, I would never want to start something and then drop it after a handful of sessions.   That being said, I have planned to run a quick pickup type M&M game for some local folks.  And, I could probably run a version of that on roll20, especially as an icebreaker/intro thing.   @Campaigns:   Yeah, pretty much what you were saying Rose.  I am a big fan of campaigns with definite "pitches," like the filling the shoes of the extant JLA you describe above.  Another, perhaps more open-ended variation is to basically steal the JLA (or Avengers, probably) type of origin:  some massive threat comes, heroes of various stripes unite, and we all know that's where it's going but it gives us a kind of fun little action-packed intro.  That sidesteps the whole heroes return bit that can get a little complicated.   If I was really going to pitch it, I might even just say pick either DC or Marvel's universes as a setting, but (a) get rid of about 98% of the heroes (basically it's just the PCs and those that they want to include, avoiding Elminster Syndrome), and (b) treating the settings with a very light touch as their continuity and settings get absurdly complicated.   I hasten to add that's just one idea among many.  But, for all my games I do like some sort of pitch type of thing.
A good campaign setting can be as good as a strong story. Helps players come up with a char idea that fits  the world and lets them write a bit of a backstory that in turn gives them better chances to role play and mesh well with there own and other heroes.  After if its going to be thugs with gang bosses for the most part and the GM wants people to have Batman type heroes (next to no powers and lots of skills, advantages, equipment etc) then someone playing a bullet proof teleporter that can mind control with a single glance, wouldn't fit well. Just helps having a guide line before hand so people don't get any wrong ideas. I would love to play a superpowered person that has a nice array of powers. But if the GM says have a theme that makes sense e.g underwater person can swim (+speed swimming), breath air and water, high pressure threshold due to being able to swim the deepest oceans. You can argue strength because the weight of water and linking up themes that  make sense. It wouldn't make sense for that person to also have the ability to open portals or breath in space, you could add shapeshiting into marine-life(with amphibious ones) but no flinging fire bolts just because you wanted to have that as a ranged effect lol. I really like themes but some want a superman with abstract combinations. Ether way I do hope someone soon comes forward as I have an itch to play thats growing and no games are GMT friendly at the moment.
Would love to play or even run a supers game based on the necessary evils setting from savage world's. Basically the world has been conquered and all heroes died. All that is left are the villains who are leading the resistance

No idea what Savage worlds theme is. Heard the name but know nothing about it. Maybe a setting people are more familiar with. That and why are villains leading a resistance?
sorry was on phone before so kept it short. basically the idea is that aliens came in took over and killed anyone who resisted i.e. the heroes, they left most of the other people alive as long as they understood that the aliens are in charge, resistance is futile, we do not come in peace etc etc oh and do as you are told or get killed. The villains however being the independant people they are decided that if they didnt like following a human government why the hell should they follow these alien assholes decided to fight back in one way or another, maybe they just wanted to piss alines off, kill people, take over the world themselves or maybe it's just that if the aliens are gone then the amount of people who want to kill them for commiting a crime drops immensely. so you are not good people, you are not fighting the good fight so to speak it's just these bastards showed up and for one reason or anothe ryou want them gone,
Much proffer a hero game over villain
just a thought, fine with hero as well.  Interested in trying a teen superhero thing as well you guys would be weaker or just generally less experienced than any villain you come across but hopefully as a team and if you fight smart you can overcome the odds just fast enough to hand your homework in or something
Been along time since I was a teenager. Maybe college or just after would be smoother. I don't mind being PL8 or something to start off with so we are less powerful and become better over time.
Was thinking power level 8 as well though it was not just about being weaker. Was thinking of a game where you actually had to juggle both real life and dealing with supervillains and stuff. anywhere from first to last year of high-school was the idea. If no one is interested i can try come up with a different ide, just want something a little than the "you are the Justice league or avengers just with a name change" theme of course if anyone has any good suggestions as well, im all ears
A lot of people like Necessary Evil. And, I like Savage Worlds, although it's not my preferred superhero game system. But, it's certainly serviceable. I do feel like the villain thing was kind of an unnecessary gimmick, but ymmv.  I know a lot of people like the "slice of life" thing, which is what I would call Fairystail's teen hero idea.  It personally doesn't grab me, but I really think I'm an outlier here.  So, you might want to see if people respond to that, given your interest.   I briefly played one campaign that was a kind of Xavier School of the Gifted but more general than mutants type of idea, where some of us played teachers and other students.  And, that had some appeal to me, but it's also kind of complex and gets away from the core element.   I do like the idea of these more specific pitches.  I'll see if anything really occurs to me.  I think I'm personally more attracted to the more mythic, melodramatic (?), elements of the superhero genre, viz. the opening of the DC mmo from a while back.  That, or maybe a kind of supernatural type of thing.  I can try and come up with ideas when I have a little bit of free brainpower.
sorry really should explain this better. yes my idea of the teen thing involves school, family etc but there will be lots of crime fighting. So many games seem to assume, welp you have no family, no friends, no job, no responsibility. go nuts :) im thinking 20-25% real life, 80-75% ass kicking

For what it's worth, I grokked what you meant.  Classic Spider-Man would be a good example, and Harry Potter and numerous anime/manga also fall into that category.  Early run of Invincible, too, although that's basically taking cues from Spider-Man.   I like the sense of place, connections and so forth.  That's one of the things I think I mentioned in one of my earlier posts.  I could probably find my way into such a campaign.  It's just not really my first choice.  Part of that is just preference, and part of it is that I just finished playing a very similar fantasy game.  But, as I mentioned, I think I'm a weirdo on that count.   All of which is to say if that's what grabs you, what seems fun for you to GM, then I'd say run with it.
ah sorry my bad, really should get some sleep its 9 am here.
Absolutely no worries, man.  Get some rest and I'll look forward to kibbutzing with you sometime soon.  I dig the ideas.  Semi-idle curiosity, what time zone are you in?
So was someone willing to start up a game if no GM came forward?
