ABOUT ME I'm Grass/Grasswalker, 19, from the UK. I don't think I'm the best DM ever or anything, but having approx 1 year DMing experience (5e) and 6-9 months player experience (also 5e), I also played on a World of Warcraft Roleplay server for 5+ years and ran a guild + events for them. Up to date with Critical Role too, and my biggest inspiration as a DM would be Matt Mercer. WHY IS THIS PAID? Firstly I'm a relatively poor Uni student who could do with some spare cash if I'm going to be spending considerable amounts of time creating encounters, NPCs, a world, a story, items for you, finding maps and will be available almost 24/7 for questions/discussion/general banter. Secondly is basic economics, there are more players than there are DMs, and a majority of DMs are either new, inexperienced, or just kinda shitty. I've made posts before looking for randoms and had 50+ replies, so I figure this is a way to both make money and also need to filter through less PMs. TELL ME ABOUT YOUR CAMPAIGN AND STUFF Honestly the campaign is most likely to be heavily fantasy based, lots of magic, and heavily reminiscent of a big mixture between; The Witcher 3 The Elder Scrolls (Oblivion/Skyrim) World of Warcraft My past experience playing DnD The campaign will not be ran out of a module book, I won't just be reading from a script, you will have borderline 100% free agency to do anything as a group, travel anywhere and encounter anything. It will be a healthy mixture of general combat, "larger encounters" (e.g boss fights), and Roleplay. Your imagination is the only limit. I WANNA DO COOL THINGS If there's anything you're dying to be included (e.g Gunslinger class/Goblin race), twisted, adjusted or involved, just say and I'll try to incorporate it somehow. I am all ears and actively supporting of homebrew, though my one condition is that I will remake/restyle and rebalance it *with* you, so you can't just hand me your link to DnDWiki and run it exactly as it says, I will work with you to create something that is relatively balanced and fitting to the campaign. Session 0 where everyone meets up and creates characters and things will probably be best to bring these ideas up with the party and see how they like it. EXAMPLES OF MY NON-STANDARD RULES Every DM has (or should have) a few rules that differ from the handbook, I have a decent number that I think make sense over the recommended material. I will give a few examples so you know what you're in for that might be changed if you do know all the rules already- "Success": You have to BEAT things in DC/armour class, if you attack and get 13, and their AC is also 13 you have equally matched their armour, not beaten it, so I judge these as failed attacks. Should be balanced since the enemies also have to beat your AC. It's more of a personal preference thing to be honest and should have minimal if no impact on life in the game. "Stat checks": Instead of calling for some checks such as Strength, I will simply ask what your characters strength stat is and judge the result accordingly - e.g a barbarian pulling a door off of it's hinges and he has 18 strength vs making him roll and he rolls a 2(+4). A similar situation exists with proficiencies and expertises, if you have an expertise in medicine and your background is based on you being a doctor, you might auto-pass checks involving stabilizing friends. "Attunement": Instead of having a total maximum of 3 items attuned you can have any number of items 'attuned' but each one requires a 'slot'. For example you cannot be attuned to two different cloaks, or three different pairs of boots. THAT'S ALL SUPER NEAT, HOW DO I JOIN? If that all sounds nice and dandy, I would like you to effectively fill in a form and send it to me if that's alright with you. Don't feel the need to lie on any question, a lack of DnD experience will not cost you at all. Try not to make answers too lengthy, I will be skim-reading these. If you're interested I require from you - Your name/nickname/alias: Age: Your time-zone: Your DnD experience: Your favourite class/race (if any): What days/nights you are free to play: I'm free Tues/Thurs/Fri/Sat/Sun.
