[LFP][Blades in the Dark][Roll20/Skype][GMT and European time zones] GM looking for players.

The cobbles rattled beneath the wheels of the dark carriage as it sped down main street to its destination. A wad of phlegm rocketed from the driver's mouth, rifle steady in hands that did not shake, grey sunken eyes vigilantly scanning the horizon from beneath his sodden tricorne hat as it sped by, horses bolting across the rough cobbled floor exhausted and on rough terrain but sure-footed, the frames of market stalls empty like skeletons picked clean, wary eyes peering from the shadows willing to chance a look but not wanting to catch a bullet. Inside the carriage was dark as pitch, bar a few rays of moonlight illuminating the grimly set mouth and hooked nose of the man sat across from you. The wood splintered with holes that grew in number by the minute, musket balls ricocheting off the steel sheeting in the panels behind and above you a horrid staccato of violence. His pasty white hand reaching forth to offer a contract, the scent of tobacco, gunpowder and copper thick in the air. "You'll find her for me before it's too late?" he pleaded from a bloody mouth the sound clear above the din as the rifles rang out loud and true. Light flooding the darkness as the driver roared such things that would make a whore blush, bodies falling like puppets, strings viciously cut. The man with the pall bearers pallor flops forward onto you as claret spills across his cravat a gurgle in his throat he pushes you from the carriage with reckless abandon slumping into a disjointed pile in the road the last thing you see as with a dead man's dying wish clutched to your chest the darkness finds you once again" Welcome to Blades in the Dark a tabletop game of scoundrels, shootouts and scheming. You and other players will work to create and maintain a fledgling criminal empire - your crew - and then take on various shady jobs to improve your standings and status amongst a turbulent criminal society. Gameplay focuses on the moments of daring do during a job (with occasional flashbacks) and the downtime between scores when you recover and pursue all the wretched delights the nights in Doskvol can offer. We are looking for friendly, enthusiastic players, in the GMT time zone or other European time zones (Sincerely wish we could take people outside of these, but it makes things very difficult as far as scheduling time and such). We'd also ask that you provide a method to contact you on a regular basis, Whatsapp or something similar works fine. For Blades in the Dark as a mission-based game, the sessions should last around 2 - 4 hours, but that can vary such is the nature of any roleplaying game. Now for a few questions if you could fill out the ones below and stick it in a reply. Have you played tabletop games before? What days/times would you be available to play? Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? Here are some touchstones for the game to give and idea of setting and such. Games: Thief: The Dark Project and its sequels , by Looking Glass Studios. Dishonored , by Arkane Studios. Dark Souls and Bloodborne by Hidetaka Miyazaki and From Software. Books: The Vlad Taltos novels (Jhereg, etc.), by Steven Brust. The stories of Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser , by Fritz Leiber. The Lies of Locke Lamora , by Scott Lynch. Best Served Cold , by Joe Abercrombie. Hawkwood Series by James Mcgee Films/TV:   Click Here!
Have you played tabletop games before? -Certainly! I have played tabletop for the past three years or so with the fourth year slowly creeping up in the future. This includes D&D, Shadowrun, Dark Heresy or World of Darkness. What days/times would you be available to play? -As it stands I would be available to play wednesdays - saturdays in the evenings GMT/BST, although that availability might change somewhat in the coming weeks.  Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? -I don't feel very proud to say this but I have not gone through the literature nor the movies; I do not watch many of the latter. However, I have either played or thoroughly seen all of the aforementioned games and found them to be quite good fun! And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? -Well well, I am a 20 y/o chemistry student with a bit of a penchant to lurking on the web; I do enjoy a good story and a fun group I can relax with. I have used to do freeform RP but after seeing the Rollplay series that has drastically changed and now I mostly do tabletop nowadays. If I may say so I think I am a fairly reliable player with enough sensibility to not try to break the system or ruin the fun for others. Besides that, well, I am rather curious about the game!
Have you played tabletop games before? I started with DnD 5e almost exactly a year ago. Since then I tried to find a group for the Shadowrun or the Dark Heresy but none of them fitted into my schedule/time zone. What days/times would you be available to play? I’m free from Monday to Friday (with Wednesdays and Fridays as probably the best option). Time wise I can usually start after 6 pm (CEST). Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? I played Dishonored, Thief (the 2nd one I believe – it’s been quite a long ago) and little bit of Dark Souls. From you TV/movie list I saw a lot (enough to make another list). Where are the books concerned I usually go with a science fiction… And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? Well, I’m 27 which means I have to work (in construction). As I already mentioned I don’t have “tons” of RP experience but it’s better to start late than never, I guess. Other than that I like books, games, music and movies – nothing special on that front (or any other front for that matter).
Have you played tabletop games before? Plenty for the past few years, both as a player and GM. The systems I am most familiar with are Numenera and FATE, but I've also tried out a number of other systems. What days/times would you be available to play? Sunday-Thursday evenings. Basically any day but Friday/Saturday. Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? I have played all of the games, read a couple of the books and seen a quite a few of the visual media works listed. And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? I'm a 26 year old English Philology student nearing the end of my student days. Before I got into tabletop RPGs I used to do a lot of freeform play-by-post forum RPG stuff. I am a creative person who greatly enjoys the improvisation aspect of Tabletop RPGs. I am fairly easy going and can think on my feet, so I can go along with whatever is thrown my way.
Colour me interested for this one Have you played tabletop games before? Yes, more as teenager but with the new wealth of indie games I find myself drawn back into roleplay.  Have played AD&D, Pathfinder, BFrpg, WOD and the odd indie one-shot What days/times would you be available to play? Most weekdays after 5pm (GMT) (Not Tuesdays or Fridays atm) Have you read, seen or played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? Have watched a bit of the Blades in the Dark youtube series and played Thief the Dark Project and a bit of Metal Age.  Am aware of Dishonoured (no spoilers there please!) but not played it.  Not really read the books but reckon I can convey the atmosphere of mystical-industrial-urban gloom And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? I'm 31 and work in the building trade.  I am a big fan of playing rogues in traditional and not-so traditional fantasy settings.  I have been looking at the quickstart pdf. to get a feel of the world and its environs and have at least one character concept I'd like to run with though I would be learning as we went.  I like all the playbooks I've seen so I'm flexible.  Looking to work with interesting characters and let a good story unfold
Greetings, sir! My name's Thunder. And I'm here to apply to play in your game of Blades in the Dark. And i've also brought some friends. See, me and some friends of mine were about to begin looking for a GM for a Blades game. Our majority already GM games, which makes all of us a bit too busy, however, seeing this post in search of able players, I think I can create a situation beneficial to both parties. So, let's begin with the questions... Have you played tabletop games before? That is a hard yes. I'm the least experienced of the group, and with that said, I've still been playing tabletop games for nearly a year now of all different sorts. From D&D to FATE, to Apoc, and yes, even a few spots of Blades every now and then. We're experienced players, and one particular of our group knows his shit when it comes to this game in particular. What days/times would you be available to play? We've bent around timezones for a lot of different encounters, and this should be no different, but I think it would be best to negotiate a time on the weekends. Thankfully, most of the group should be relatively flexible. And I think we should be able to spill over into monday if need be. Have you read/seen/played any of the touchstones listed at the end of this post? Have I? First off, the ones that I personally have the most experience with, the Souls games. I'd have to say that the souls series is one of my favorite games series that I've played, and throwing Bloodborne into the mix, I'd love to see what kind of interesting anomalies you could come up with with that rich of a baseline, and that's not even considering the other games, let alone the books. I've played Dishonored, and I believe the rest of my group has as well, and I'd argue they've also played thief. That's one I've unfortunately missed out on, but that's not to say I know nothing. As for the books, I can't say I'm especially familiar, but hey, some stuff oughta be a surprise. I don't know what anyone else has read, but I imagine it's a similar situation. And finally, tell us about yourself, what do you think you could bring to the table and why should we pick you over other people? To tell you about myself is one thing, to tell you about the rest of our mini community is another. But as a general rule, we're pretty chill, we try to be friendly, we're not opposed to homebrew or houserules, tend to be rather involved with our games, and are fine filling the scene as it were depending on what's happening. I think one big strength about picking my group over the individual applicants, is that we already have a rather firm dynamic. We play well with each-other, there won't be a lot of awkward get-together type stuff. We work as we are. Even if only one other person is able to make the game, as highly unlikely as that is, it's still a dynamic duo that can get shit done. Not to mention, we've all played the game before. At least a little bit. Basically, we can keep the game going smooth, and create content as a practiced little assembly of misfits.  Other Information Generally, you should be able to contact me via Roll20 Private Messaging, but I also use Skype, Discord, or whatever your prefered method of communication would be. If you are considering contacting me, I would like to know how many people you want for your game, and what times work best for you, so that we can get a willing gang of scoundrels on your doorstep ready for action. As well, if you could message me contact information of your own, I'd like to get you in contact with some of the other potential players. Skype/Discord:Thundergamer64
Hey there! I would really like to be a part of this! Have you played tabletop games before? Yes! Although I don't have huge amount of experience I have played DnD 3.5, Pathfinder, Dungeon World, Apocalypse world and ASOIAF. What days/times would you be available to play? I'm currently living in London, so I'm GMT+0. My work schedule allows me to play from Monday to Friday, after 7 PM. Have you read/seen/played any of the touchstones mentioned? Unfortunately there is a lot of stuff here that I haven't had a chance to try yet. I have played Dishonored and absolutely loved it. Going through the quick start rule-set for this I can already see there are a lot of similarities between the settings, which is awesome. I haven't read the books, but I've borrowed my brother's copy of 'The Blade Itself' to get started on Abercrombie. As for the movies/tv shows, there's a lot of things I have seen, and another lot that I plan to see in the near future! Tell us about yourself: I'm 25yo, Portuguese, living in London. This game is incredibly appealing to me because it gives me the chance to play a style of character that I've always wanted to play, but was never really allowed to. I create imperfect characters with personalities that feel real and I dedicate myself to roleplaying those characters the best I can. Roleplaying, for me, has always been the most important part of any game that I've played. This game allows me to roleplay a character that isn't a mighty perfect saviour of the universe and that is what I have been looking for! I want to be able to trick, bluff, infiltrate and blackmail! I want my character to develop grudges and allegiances along the way! I basically want to tell a good story! If you're interested in having me as part of the group, please don't hesitate to PM me! I'll be seeing you around!
I'm going to be closing this thread, we have found the players we needed for the game. I'm closing rather than deleting it as if people come and go I can look back here to find others. So consider the thread shut for the time being, we are not currently looking.
