Why do character sheet macros not show up when I try to type #macro name

I have created a character sheet for my characters that have a bunch of basic macros, which work if i add them as a button to the screen, but only macros created in the settings pane actually show up if I try to type #macro name. Is there a way to add char sheet macros to the list that can be executed from the chat window? Why are they handled differently to begin with?

TheOneTrueDevo, What you're saying was requested after the release of the Roll20 character sheets, only that at the moment we know nothing about its implementation. @Gauss came with a way of making char sheet macros work from the Text Chat window, but I don't remember the syntax right now. It's explained in other threads that I can't locate right now . . . I hope this helps.
