Character sheet management?

Before assembling my first adventure as a GM wannabe I read through most of the docs here and found one major piece missing - namely, character sheets. I know one can make them on MythWeavers, D4e insider site, elsewhere too, but my question is how do you manage them in game? What tool do you use? Is GM responsible for that (and if so, how do players check their sheets)? Is there any particular tool or method most GMs use? In this case I'm assuming the use of fairly complex character sheets - such that cannot be represented by a health bar and a couple other indicators available on roll20. Thank you!
I use crocodoc for character sheets. I have players create their own crocodoc account, I give them a template. They fill it in, and it is up to date with live data. So I just keep a web browser tab open for each character, and I have fairly easy access to any character details i need. I then use the 3 bars for character indicators. Really just use 1 for health, then armor is just a number, as well as the 3rd for a miscellaneous mechanic.

Thanks, Bryan! Didn't know about crocodoc. Will try it out.

I build my sheet here on roll20. The front tab is treated as an actual paper sheet. I build a table sheet on it. The second tab (abilities and attributes) is where I build all the macros.

I use obsidianportal for my campaign tracking stuff & characters . It's basically a modified wiki with some tweaks that make it good for campaign management while roll20 is more of a digital tabletop.
