Hi, A friend and I are looking for a GM for a Blades in the Dark game, and perhaps an extra player or two. Our gaming group has experience with a lot of difference systems, including Blades. I bought the game about via drivethroughrpg about 6 months ago, also did a 2-shot with my group during the "season break" of our DnD5E game (going on 8 months now I think.) Without further ado, I have a couple questions. I'm sorry in advance if the questions feel like a job interview, because it is. I'll put my best foot forward by answering my own questions, in the spirit of transparency and all-o'-dat. What systems are you familiar with? DnD5E, Stars without Number, ApocWorld (1st and 2nd ed), Dogs in the Vineyard, Burning Wheel, M.A.S.K.S, Sprawl, Dungeon World, oWoD (VtM Revised and V20), WtA, Blades (obviously), Monsterheart, Fall of Magic. How willing are you to "play the game as written"? Depend on the group's consensus. I'm no stranger to homebrewing or hacking systems so that it does what I want it to do. My current DnD5E game is heavily modified, but I tend to stick to the game as written for newer systems, or newer GM (not inexperienced, but rather unfamiliar). Who or what influence your style of GM'ing? Adam Koebel is a big inspiration for me, personally. Miyazaki for his storytelling in the Souls series and Bloodborne. Vincent Baker and Luke Crane for the "GM advice" in ApocWorld and Burning Wheel. What is your GM style? I'm strictly a fan of my players. Whatever Machiavellian web of conspiracy I have in mind play second fiddle to what the players' interests. What are your sources of inspiration for a setting like Blades? Oliver Twist , Great Expectation , and David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. Revelation Space trilogy by Alastair Reynolds. Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess Neuromancer , Count Zero , Mona Lisa Overdrive by William Gibson Mirrored Heavens by David J. Williams Northern Lights by Philip Pullman Penny Dreadful Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell The Magicians Darkest Dungeon Grim Dawn Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magicka Obscura Thief (The Dark Project & The Metal Age) & Dishonored franchise Deus Ex franchise ... Needless to say, I'm willing to answer any follow-up question you might have. I check Roll20 almost daily.
