Hi Claus! Pro comes with a lot of neat features, but no, it does not really affect performance factors that could be coming into play for lag. Pro subscription does give you access to move & run your games on a separate server called the Dev Server. Sure, it's possible that one might get less lag on the Dev Server in some situations, but that's not what accessing the Dev Server is known for. Dev Server is mainly a way for Pro users to access and help test upcoming new features of Roll20. Many or most factors that could create lag (on "Production Server") would also be present equally on Dev Server if you move your game there. Free accounts / Non-Pro games are not throttled or limited in any way to cause lag compared to subscribers. That said -- can we help address your technical issue with lag otherwise? I can provide the standard troubleshooting steps if you want to try that next. The first step there will be to clear your web broswer cache periodically as this might help. Another tip against lag is to plug in your internet, hardwired ethernet instead of wifi. Another performance-hog can be Dynamic Lighting depending on how you have it set up, so please ask if you think this might be a factor. Finally, the most likely factor based on what you said, a Living Campaign can have a very large number of Characters, and this can start to build up to causing lag especially if you're using a complex Character Sheet (that generates a large number of Attributes). How many Characters are in your game & what Character Sheet? There could be other workarounds or steps to make your game leaner and eliminate lag, we can pursue if you want to test and try some changes.
