We have a solid base of four players, but we would prefer to have one or two more just to round out the game! The setting is a roughly medieval one with some fantasy thrown in. The format of the game is based on episodic arcs that depict the pivotal moments and adventures had by the characters during a given year, each of which should last for one or two game sessions. At the end of the year, the characters retire to their manors to oversee the counting of the harvest and prepare themselves for next years adventures, journeys or wars. We've only had one session thus far and the party are half way through the first year, having travelled to attend the Baron's spring court. As it is very early in the game, we have not as of yet struck the balance between adventuring, politicking and war. The goal is for a fun weekly game that will span decades of history, with characters accruing experience, reputation and wealth before leaving their estates to their heirs and successors. In terms of the mechanics, characters have been built on a points score similar to dungeon fantasy with slightly more of a focus on interaction over combat - but both will feature heavily depending on the events that the characters find themselves swept up in, or start of their own accord. If you would be interested in playing, please drop me a PM - we plan to run again next Wednesday at 19:00 GMT.
Some more setting information: Eridor is both the name for the world in the campaign setting and the main land mass, roughly equivalent to Europe. In the dim and distant past, a larger much more magically powerful empire collapsed when the capital was consumed by an unquenchable balefire that twisted all within it and tainted the lands for leagues in every direction. There were several attempts to rescue the citadel and contain the balefire, but eventually only a tithe of the population escaped to the east. There the survivors raised fortifications and withstood the assault by the twisted abominations borne of the balefire. The survivors lost a large portion of their lore and technology, reverting back to an early medieval / dark ages level. They maintained and improved the fortifications at the entrance to their lands, but relied on razing the land for miles in every direction around the keeps to keep the hordes of the balefire at bay - for they were little more than mindless beasts and could not survive without food to forage for. Political rivalry lead to the creation of two kingdoms, Avenis and Halwen and over the course of six centuries there was a fair bit of back and forth with some kingdoms being destroyed, whilst others split off and declared their own sovereignty.
