Grid Movement for Alignment

One thing that came up during our playtest was the ability to align the Roll20 Grid with grids on a certain map. Maps that have grids on them as well (a lot of resources have pre-gridded maps) must align with the Roll20 grid. This is difficult when re-sizing the maps only. When we use MapTools it has the ability to move the system grid too, as well as scale it which made it easier to align with maps. I know this is probably a difficult functionality, I just want to mention all things that are coming up.
We've been looking at some scaling options. In the meantime, a quick fix I've used in a pinch... turn off the grids and go freeform with your gridded map. Not a permanent fix, by any means, but it has worked for me a few times.
I've been having the same issues. Glad you guys are looking into it.
Good to see this is being worked on. It was the first thing I noticed when trying Roll20 for the first time. If the map graphic has fractions-of-grid-squares around its outermost edge, there's no hope of aligning it to the Roll20 grid.
Be sure to note that you can hold down the "Alt" key to move the map independent of the grid & to resize without snapping.
AHA. That makes a huge difference :)
That Alt key fixed everything for me. Maps imported from The Cartographer's Guild now look smashing!
"Hold down Alt for no snapping" Beautiful! And it works for moving the tokens too!
