I'm really struggling to find a group that fits what I'm wanting out of
the role-play hobby. I feel many people want to throw dice with power
gamed characters with expectations of ST's setting up bowling pins for
them to knock down. Or the opposite, ST's that only want to ram players
through their iron-hard plot of house rules built only to mimic a show
they had seen on TV- where the players have little to no control of
what happens to their own creation. I'm not hating on either of these, they're
just not something I'm looking for. I join games looking to give any
group a shot, but most I feel just don't hit my personal tastes. I feel players and ST should work together where the players have equal control of the game as the ST. No God-complex story tellers, no players wanting to sit back and say how hard their character crushes nameless, faceless npcs, with the crazy powerful roles. Just a group of people wanting to explore how they think various elements of story creation can be explored as a group? Players are the story teller; the story teller is the drama maker? Donno. As a player, I like my focus of RP to be on psychological consequence of a character living in a warped reality (World of Darkenss.) How does the world built and shaped by the ST effect my toon's, character, mood/theme, and identity? What changes does the character go through over the spanof the game and how far do they change? I love adult themes such as politics, moral ambiguity, romantic relations, fear of self, and fear of consequence, etc. Im very much looking for a subsystem such as Vampire, Werewolf, Beast, where the backbone of the game is focued on loss of control where the character is inherently a victim of their own power. I have several years of storytelling experience in NWOD/COD, and have been a dedicated player for about a year. I really get attached to my characters, and find I like sticking to ONE chronicle at a time, and not splitting my attention to several games at once. I enjoy writing narratives about "off-scene" events my character may be a part of, that is important to the theme of the character, but doesn't need its own time in the spot light of the game itself. If I sound like the type of player you're looking for, lemme know.
