Interest Check - New DM - DnD 3.5e - Colonial Scenario

Hello all! I've thought of a campaign idea that focuses around the party being part of a group of colonists. There aren't many caves full of goblins to fight... There aren't that many witches to burn... There aren't even that many rampaging dragons to slay for no particular reason. This is a completely new continent. A new world to explore, with some familiar things for your characters, and many, many new and alien things, people, and creatures. Your primary adversary? The land, itself. Rome wasn't built in a day, nor was colonial America. Your characters will help build their new home with blood, sweat, and tears, using their skill and their willingness to survive to continue throughout this harsh wilderness and tame it. If the first campaign goes well, I plan on the ability to make a generational game, where once the tales of the fathers and mothers has been told, the sons and daughters will pick up the reins. You will see your home grow and change as you do... Will your colony thrive and flourish? Or will the expedition be a failure, and your names damned to oblivion? Tell me your thoughts! If you're interested, send me a PM, or if you have other ideas, send me a PM anyway! I am a bit of a newb when it comes to DMing, but I like to think I'm a pretty decent story teller.

That sounds interesting. It is far different than the typical dungeon crawl or defeat the evil whatever that is trying to take over the known realms. You could even start it out based on historical facts and go from there. Lewis and Clark group had elf's with them, Salem witch hunts happened because the magic-user charmed a girl to get frisky with, etc.
Well, I should clarify: This is not an augmented history game. This is normal DnD, just with a different scenario than normal. If there is gunpowder in this campaign, in the beginning, it will be a very, very scarce and unreliable tool. It my become more commonplace in the next generation, however... All mentions to colonial America are purely for reference.

Oh, I know that. I was just using stuff as reference also. I don't play 3.5 so I was just tossing up suggested references and such to help anyone interested to get an idea of what you were implying.
I would be interested depending on your availability. Monday, Wednesday are my open days. 8:00 PM CDT is about the earliest I can start (sometimes earlier)
I'd be interested as well, but yeah I'd like to know what time the game would be.
if it's with Voice, and 3.5/pathfinder then you can count me in as well! (Copy/paste from one of my earlier threds; I'm available every day from 7pm GMT to 11:30pm GMT (2pm EST to 6:30pm EST / / / 11am PST to 3:30pm PST) I'm Available ALL of Saturday. Sorry for the half-arsed times, but it's the only hours I'm available after I get home from work.)
