You must be supporter or mentor to apply to join this game. You start at level 3 in a city known as Metropolis. Metropolis is alive and wonderful, but dirty and dangerous. The city is filled with rats, steam machines, and corruption. Men with masks watch you as you go about your business. The Order of the Hammer enacts justice on the unclean heretics from the outer world. It is, without a doubt, the most vile place you've ever seen. Clock towers and music boxes and gears surround you as you've come to the sad realization that whatever flame brought you here has been snuffed by the corruption and greed of the city. Like a drug, you're hoplessly addicted to the lights and commotion, even if it brings your death, for you are different than the rest of them: you're here to do good things. Things that turn men into heroes, and leave legacies that bards will sing of for years. ^Much larger story for Metropolis found in the game itself. Shame you won't live to get that far... In the application field under "I heave read the game and it seems interesting to me:" type: "HELL YES" Game setting: Pathfinder 25 point build Level 3 No summoners. Period. 2 traits, or 3 traits one flaw. You must be eligible for the traits you purchase using your backstory (not mechanically rolled, but your story must incorporate how you're an armor master, or how you learned to fight dirty). 1,500 starting gold. Normal pathfinder rules apply. Heal skill changed to make it much more useful. Repair skill added, more details in the campaign rules. Clerics can replace the bloodloss with spells, but they don't stop the bleed... (More details to those who wish to play a healer-type class upon request). Game is deadlier. Full HP per level, plus con modifier because you're going to need it. Archetypes allowed Be any variant of the "good" alignment with a willingness to actually do some good. Be mature and be ready for mature themed settings. Death happens. Actions have consequences. Puzzles will be solved. I run a "puzzle" system. Players are given the chance to solve a puzzle instead of rolling to open a lock or door. On all major doors and locks puzzles are the only way to pass. This can range from a game of "find the number" photoshopped into a dynamic lighting photo setting, to "hangman" where a party member is in the noose, to a word riddle or a math teaser. 1 Hero point per level Even though the setting is still Pathfinder, traditional armor and weapons still apply. Clothing styles are much more Victorian, but and the armor has followed that route. If you're wearing chainmail it's more brassy, with a bit more flair too it. Still chainmail. Still noticeably armor. RP HEAVY Thursdays at 8pm CSt Sending me a PM will get trashed. Post below if you have questions or wish to bump this thread for me. Accepting all applications until Next Wednesday, and will announce the new players next Thursday. Apply here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/embeddedform?f... Do note, this is not an invite to play. This is an invite to taste the world, see the style of play. Load the game and read the splash screen. Read the items on the forums. Make sure this is a good fit for you. https://app.roll20.net/join/186342/v_XuhQ All players will be removed after a week, except those who will be asked to stay and play.
what time of day are you lookin at?
This looks really interesting and I'd like to join up, but a few questions first: 1. Is this going to be RP heavy or combat heavy? 2. My Thursdays are basically completely open, but still would like a general time we'd play. 3. Would a druid fit well into this kind of city campaign?
Sorry, that's the important one. Thursdays at 8pm Central time. RP Heavy Druid fits but druids generally aren't happy. Witches either.
Game preview coming soon. Almost finished.

Filled out an Application. I'm Keith. Thinking of rolling up some sort of Alchemist... (Though, what does the party have currently? I'm flexible...)
Very cool. I will check over it tomorrow. For now, bed calls, for work call tomorrow.
Done with the application. Planning on playing a Rogue-ish character. Maybe Rogue/Wizard or just a Rogue archetype.

Filled application. I would like to play a Maneuvers based fighter. Here is a character sheet, I will select the rest of my gear later. And send a better background. https://www.dropbox.com/s/9cksj0yfa1lo4x6/Ollie.pd...
Don't rush a character creation. Take your time, think it through, write up a good backstory. I hate half-assed characters, which is why the application process is over a week. It's not first come first served, more like first come first contacted for an interview.
Bumping. Three applications so far, thank you for those. Will review them and contact each of you sometime later tonight or tomorrow, whenever I can shed wife aggro. Still looking for more. Hoping for five players, have two already lined up from a previous game that I can trust to be on time to games and bring a strong, mature element to the game. (Mature, I know right, coming from a guy with a picture of himself in an ugly xmas sweater on the deucer)
Bumping again. I am also going to enforce that all new players be AT LEAST supporter status to join. If you enjoy roll20, spend a lil money on it each month so that I have new features to integrate into games that you enjoy playing with.

If possible, could you send me (through PM or posting here) some information about Metropolis? What factions are vying for control, etc? I need a bit of a frame of reference to make a character. For now, I'll say that I'm VERY interested, but I can't fill out the application without having the character ready :P EDIT: WHOOPS! I'm sorry. I somehow missed the campaign details on my first pass. Silly me. I'll be filling out an application shortly. EDIT2: Aaand I just saw the "must be a supporter" thing. Well, first off, only the GM needs to be a supporter for roll20 features, I believe. But regardless, if you want to stick with that, I'm afraid I do not have any money, so I guess I'm out. Which is unfortunate, because I was extremely interested in this.
Let me guess, part of the horror (in the title) is looking at your avatar?

I doubt "pay to play" is what the devs want, or how they want the site to be portrayed. You get people to pay by offering them something and showing them the value in paying for it, not by making them throw out money up front for a game that might not even happen.

You get people to pay by offering them something and showing them the value in paying for it, not by making them throw out money up front for a game that might not even happen. Then don't play. The game is happening, it's already four sessions in. With or without you. Regardless of what the devs want, it's what I want. There's too many people on this site and not enough of them doing anything to support the game monetarily. The site is ad free and being developed in the spare time that the developers can, pretty much on a "free" basis. The least you can do is buy them a beer for it. I spend at least ten hours every two weeks preparing session, from writing up individual bad guys stats, to drawing maps and planning puzzles and encounters. The least you can do for that time I'm spending to run a game you enjoy playing (for at LEAST 3 hours a month) is donate five dollars to the people who allow this site to exist in the first place.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful. When I said I don't have any money, I meant it. I try to support in the form of feedback and bug reports, because I'm simply not in a place where I have $5 to spend on it. I WISH I did, and if I had the extra money, I'd definitely spend it, but unfortunately, being an unemployed 20 year old with no real job opportunities in the area is not the best situation to be in :/

Yeah man, I know what it's like to be in that situation... But I have to ask, and not to really sound like a d-bag, but what are you doing online without a job or income? I mean, the internet isn't free. Are you on campus? Do you live with your parents? I mean, even when I was 20 and going to college full time I still worked 25 hours, supported video games I enjoyed (especially indie) and paid rent/meals out of pocket... Making five bucks isn't really that hard, either. Rake a neighbor's lawn. I'd pay someone 30 bucks to rake mine and my yard isn't huge. Five dollars a month was literally me just saying "nah, tonight I'm gonna do ramen instead of spaghetti. Even if you never join one of my games, a donation to Roll20 is still the right thing to do. I should also point out, I have an age limit of 21 or older to join (it's right on the application). Not that I have a problem with younger people, I've just found people are more reliable around 21-22 years old than elsewhere. Even better yet if I could get all 30 year old married men and women to join.
Bump! I know I'm a picky eater, but you have to be when you're forming a gaming group on the internet.
Bump
Closing applications on Wednesday.
Posted an application! This campaign looks to be pretty awesome
Cool! I'll get in touch with you when I'm off work.
