LFP/LFG/LFI Warhammer Fantasy

LFP = Looking For Players LFG = Looking For Group LFI = Looking For Interest So, it's been in my head for sometime that I should try my hand at DMing a Warhammer Fantasy campaign. I would most likely start out using a module to get the group off the ground and potentially give any new players a while to get used to the setting while stuck to a rail. ... and I just really want to finish that module at least once since I've tried to be a player in it three times and it never seems to live for long enough to see the end of it due to players dropping out or not being able to attend for one reason or another. ... Is there ANYONE even slightly interested in a Warhammer Fantasy group? For the record, the module I want to run is the Ashes of Middenheim module.
Hey there , i dont know anything really about the setting , but then again all i really need in a game is that the setting its kind of medieval , and that there is rp involved , im just more inclined to that :) what day /time are you thinking of doin this game ? i unfortunatly can only play on the weekend , but i am sure there are tons of players around the forum that would be up for this . Aledas .

Hi! I have little info about that module, but I would still be very interested in joining up! Let me know. :-) Haven't played Warhammer Fantasy before, but a ton of D&D and Dark Heresy, hope that knowledge can help to understand the system. - Stardrome.
RP is generally a big part of my games and I prefer to let the roleplay guide the game than the rolls in most cases. As for when I was potentially planning to run this; I'm not entirely sure. My schedule is pretty open and flexible as it stands but my weekends may be fairly open for a while now. I know my Sundays are most definitely open for the forseeable future, and most of my Saturdays. Otherwise I'm sort of looking to be able to play in the week, if people have time. My timezone is GMT +1, but I don't sleep like a normal person. And yes, the system is similar to Dark Heresy. They share a few base rules, so to speak.
Sounds very interesting, i played alot of warhammer fantasy and would like to join your group. I've send you a pm with some questions etc.
Also, for the record, the module (and rulebooks) are all 2nd Edition Warhammer Fantasy, so you know. :)
I should have most of them somewhere on my pc, i'll have to check if they are 2nd edition, but they should. How often would you like to play?
OP went to bed, she's Sweedish, so... time zooones!
Im in the same timezone, but you're right it's kinda late.
I'm very interested but my timezone doesn't work well with European timezones :( Will this be the Fantasy Flight Games version?
No, this would be 2nd edition. The Fantasy Flight version is 3rd edition, which relies on really vague values and... custom dice and what not. 2nd edition is more similar to the 40k RPGs statwise and dicewise, if you've played any of those
I would be interested as well depending on times and day, do have most of the 2nd ed books as well played since 1st ed be nice to play again.
Yes. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. This is a thing and I want this thing to happen. To be a bit more specific, my Sundays just opened up dramatically, and my Saturdays are most definitely also free, as another game sadly had to end. It's been a very long time since I last got to play in a WFRP game that didn't end immediately, and by the gods, am I ever craving it. GMT+1 as well - I seem to be running into an awful lot of Swedish roleplayers, these days - so that works out well. If this is to happen, will we be rolling entirely random characters, which is always fun, or will we be making them ourselves? Nothing's quite as hilarious as just rolling 1d1000 on the master starting career table for the entire group, but on the other hand, I have a Bretonnian peasant from Mousillon that I never got to play, which was a pity. So yeah, either would be fine with me.
I would have to download the books, but I sure up for plays during the weeks, as I am not doing anything with my life at the minute. xD And I have GMT +1 too, so it would be easy for me to join when you start up.
I hope we will be allowed to create our characters by our own, rolling may be funny but it might be hard for some to rollplay random characters. Besides i think choosing what class/profession and race our characters are makes it easier to come up with a backstory and it would be more enjoyable to roleplay them. It looks like we might be able to play this week :D
I'm afraid I have to disagree: The random rolling, I find, is what makes for the best roleplaying. I find myself so frighteningly often playing what is, essentially, the same character - this here instead allows me to break the mold. To pick an example, the aforementioned Bretonnian peasant was a randomly generated character. I decided that I wanted to play a Bretonnian, rolled on the Bretonnian starting career table, rolled on the starting duchy table... Ended up with a twisted leg, a nose ring, born under the sign of the Greased Goat. Handy with a sling, though. She was a bit of a cynic, but I guess anyone would be, after growing up in Mousillon.
Random character creation is very nice indeed, that's what I always have played with in my Dark Heresy plays. :)

As a DM, I'm generally very lenient and I appreciate a good story more than I appreciate good mechanics. As far as character creation goes, I don't particularly care if you randomize entirely or be more selective with what you want to play as long as you feel you can have fun with whatever you end up with. If you like a challenge, randomizing's definitely the way to go. Otherwise, feel free to go through character creation to tailor a character you're confident you can play if that's more fun to you. I also won't care if people tweak their stats a little bit after they roll so they make more sense to their character. Also, even though I'm in the GMT+1 zone, I generally tend to stay up to 3-4 AM and sometimes a couple more hours after that. It depends on the day of the week and if I slept properly the day before, but I'm probably looking at running this around midnight my time; starting then, at least. Feel free to toss suggestions my way. It's looking like Saturdays seem to be the best day of the week for most of the group, as well. The way I'm going to run this is... Well. We'll be using Roll20 for the maps, tokens, text and whatnot. On the side, I'll want to have a Skype call going where people can communicate outside of the roleplay itself, since I very much prefer when the text in the game is strictly in-character (not counting the die rolls). I'll leave the option open for people to roleplay on Skype when there's downtime in the game between sessions if people want to build relations between their characters. I haven't completely decided what I want to do in terms of the adventure itself. I do very much want to go through with the Ashes of Middenheim module (which is the first part of a three-part adventure called Paths of the Damned). There are a couple more modules we could use as well, I'd just have to get the books, but that's not really a problem. Why I want to start with a module is to get myself in the groove of DMing in the WFRP system and to offer new players a good safety net at least from the start. If people absolutely prefer not to play a module, I could probably live with that but I wouldn't be able to start this week. I'd need a bit more time to prepare a campaign in that case. It depends on what the group wants. I'll be looking into setting up an actual game soon-ish that people can join. If people are interested still after what I've said above, send me your Skype names so we can bring the potential group together. Love, Nathalie
Count me in, Nathalie. Midnight at saturdays shouldn't be a problem for me to join. You may add me on Skype (stardrome1). http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/wfrp/warhammer-fantasy-roleplay-character-generation/WFRP_CharacterSheet_hirez.pdf Is it this sheet we may use?
Im in, i'll pm you my skype. Your times are great for me, i can play almost any day at those times. BTW thats one fancy looking character sheet.
That is a very pretty sheet, indeed. If you find a sheet that carries all the necessary information for WFRP 2nd Ed, it works for me. Myself, I tend to just make my sheets in a notepad. As long as you can get all the information down comprehensively, I don't really care how you decide to record it. ;)
Awww man. I wanna join. unfortunately my mic is fucked. Is it okay if i'll just write? This is technically my third time playing WFRP. Lemme read on the rules again. my skype is: Pelorstuff
If there's any spots left I'm open all sunday and friday past 2pm Est and have all day saturday free till 7pm. I haven't played a Wahammer fantasy but I have in DNd and some dark heresy . PM if there's a spot or if time zones available. Thanks!
If it is Sunday, then I could do it. Booked with -another- WFRP game on Saturday mornings (Which is what this would be my time), alas. Still if you want another to talk it over/entertain the possibility of joining, my Skype is niryain
It's looking more and more like Saturday's the day. I have a few people who are already interested and making characters, but anyone else who feels like they can and want to play on Saturdays given my schedule (as I mentioned in an earlier post), feel free to add my Skype: loxmardin
