After Raynor had been carried off by the green dragon Venomfang, the party gave chase to the edge of Thundertree, where they found Raynor's bow laying in the grass. They were greeted by Reidoth, who had been watching them in squirrel form, who counseled them to check the dragon's lair before continuing to give chase. Among the coins in an old wooden chest with the top sheared off were two magic scrolls, and Sigrun recognized the remains of an old seal on one of them as resembling an ancient, decrepit banner hung in Cragmaw Castle. After an assault on Cragmaw, which had been repopulated by cultists and dragon-worshiping hobgoblins, the party rescued Raynor and prepared to face Venomfang... --- After some scheduling issues and wrestling with intercontinental time change, we got our session underway and I think it went well! I believe we all had fun, and I'm looking forward to having Raynor back next week. I made a Very Bad DM Mistake in this session, which was the hand-holding of Reidoth when you guys were already on your way to figuring out that Venomfang had fled to Cragmaw Castle -- that created a very artificial and forced moment when you found the scrolls and the seal that was linked to Cragmaw. I wanted to be sure that you guys didn't pass up the loot in the tower, but it was poorly conceived and handled, and I apologize for that; accept my mea culpa and we'll call it a learning experience. :)
