On the topic of macros

1. What exactly are they? 2. How do I make one? 3. Examples of uses? I am pretty sure it's a script of do x command do y command do z command, but I am not totally sure. Any help is appreciated.

Macros are a collection of things you might otherwise type into chat. &nbsp;For example, you might type: /em take a swing with his sword! **Attack:** 1d20+3 **Damage:** 3d6 Piercing But you don't want to type that every time you roll an attack, so you create a macro instead called Sword and in chat you enter: #Sword Or you turn on the macro button bar and add that macro to it and just click the button. The real power comes when you start adding additional bits: /em take a swing at @{target|Foe|character_name} with his sword! **Attack:** 0}  **Damage:** 0}  Piercing Similar, but in some ways better are Abilities, which are like Macros tied to a character. Depending on what system you are using there may be macros premade for you to file the serial numbers off and claim credit for. Search your system in the various sections of the forums and see what there is. There are extensive macros premade for Pathfinder D&D 5E, there is a recurring chat for 2E macros. Or just ask for help and people will practically fight over who is going to help you.&nbsp;
Hey guys I am playing 5e here on Roll 20, fairly new and I am playing as a monk, now I wont require it as of yet but I was thinking of a simple way to create a macro for certain aspects of my character, such as Flurry of Blows, or Letitng people know what Ki Save DC they have to pass. Now I am a complete beginner with macros and I have tried jumping in at the deep end with the following: &{template:5eDefault} {{subheader=@{Selected|Token_Name}}} {{attack=[[ 1d20 + @{DEX}[Dex] + @{Prof}[Prof] ]]}} {{attackadv=[[ 1d20 + @{DEX}[Dex] + @{Prof}[Prof] ]]}} {{damage=[[ 1d6 + @{DEX}[Dex] ]]}} }{{spellattack=[[ 1d20 + @{DEX}[Dex] + @{Prof}[Prof] ]]}} {{spellattackadv=[[ 1d20 + @{DEX}[Dex] + @{Prof}[Prof] ]]}}{{spelldamage=[[ 1d6 + @{DEX}[Dex] ]] }} (Thanks to Mark G), and I cant get the damn thing to work. TLDR Version: New to macros, want to build some Monk specific ones. Please help.
I been working on my Token Macros&nbsp;for all my creature and characters (example: %{selected|attackmelee1} ) but it seems like all of them have just stop working. What the hell?

This looks like you are using the 5e Community Contributed sheet for your template but the attributes are from a different sheet. Which sheet is your DM using for the game?

Sorry to sound like a complete dunce, I know its a 5E sheet but not sure what versions, has orange fill boxes if that helps. I think I might have actually got some to work, going to post them here, if people are willing to evaluate them that would be great. Flurry of Blows &{template:default} Quivering Palms &{template:default} I have a feW more but I thought I'd check these first

What the hell? What do you mean by 'stopped working'? All my macros that I built on all my Creatures and Characters all my attack or initiative rolls or NPC_action1 or others from my monsters all gives me errors as I posted before in the example. Only one that are working are my Save macros. 5ed with macro built in the sheet.

here are my macros&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;%{selected|perception_check}&nbsp;&nbsp; says no abilities found for these which work all till yesterday These one are for example for my Monsters %{selected|npc_Initiative} this one below the first part give me an error but the /w part works %{selected|npc_perception} /w gm &{template:default}  } %{selected||npc_action1} This one works no problem on this one /w gm &{template:default}  /w gm @{selected|npc_traits}
Frank S. , please correct me if I'm wrong on any of these counts: You are using the Community Contributed ( <a href="https://app.roll20.net/sheet-previews/dnd5e.png" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/sheet-previews/dnd5e.png</a> ) Character Sheet. You are experiencing issues using Abilities that you've added to Characters as Token Actions . You are not experiencing issues using Sheet Roll Buttons via their Ability call, e.g. %{selected|NPCAction1} If all of the above is true, could you please take a screenshot of the issues that you are experiencing?

Look as I figure some of my problem I had this %{selected|NPC_action1} which was working but then it stopped&nbsp; working as I change it to have no _ in the macros it now working. Plus My Mac just broke down. Hard drive problem getting fix now think that could of been some problems. Using my Wife PC look like it working. Thank you for responding to my post.
