Anima: Beyond Fantasy (Checking Interest)

I've recently started looking into the system Anima: Beyond Fantasy. What is it: A fantasy game that combines several elements to make a game that may remind you of various animes and older JRPGs. System: uses its own system that gives players several customization options to really make the character their own. Revolves around d10 and d100 rolls + ability modifiers to determine results. What I'm looking for: I was wondering if anyone has played it before and if they would be interested in joining a session or more for it. Also curious if you dm'd or were a player for the system if you have any experience with it already. What sort of character would you be interested in playing in a quasi medieval setting with magic available?
I have some brief experience as a player, and would absolutely try it again :)
Sounds great :) Could you tell me a bit about your time with the game? Maybe a bit about the character you played and the parts of the game/story you enjoyed and parts you didn't care for as much?
It's been a while, but I recall it being pretty good, if everyone has the patience for it. There's a little bit of math because, if memory serves you compare your attack roll with the defender's stat and that determines the % of dmg you do. I do recall we decided to use the premade characters from the GM guide, because character creation can be quite a task if you're trying to make a summoner or something. There are definitely easier anime systems (OVA, BESM 2, BESM3, FATE) but I wouldn't mind giving Anima another spin.
I've played OVA before and ran it. Easier to start and run, but I know I feel a personal connection with anima that I didn't with ova. Established world, and a more grounded system maybe. You are right in that Anima is more number crunchy. Combats take longer to resolve, in general, but since we go for a anime/video game feel, there's no reason to make minions last longer than a minion should in a story.
So, I have absolutely no experience with this system. However, I have a knack for learning things quickly! I'd like to try my hand at playing, if that's alright. Fridays and Saturdays are golden days for me, as I'm free for pretty much any time after 3 PM EST.
Isn't too bad for new guys. I'm still learning the system, but from a player's perspective, they just need to know how to fill out the character sheet and roll what is asked of them.
I can certainly do that. Would you like my contact info?
Right now I'm polling interest in the game. I'll give you details and ask for stuff like that if there's enough interest accrued. Would be disappointing to get things rolling prematurely and then only have one person show up.
Yeah, makes sense.
I've got myself and two others, Myself being the most Experienced with the system. The Other two I have GM'd for Frequently, and introduced them to the System. I'm wondering if you have someone who would be willing to GM, as I have GM'd a lot, and want to experience someone else's GM'ing style without me being a Direct influence on how they play. I have a few LFG posts about it to xP
I'm planning to gm at least the firsts to get the ball rolling for a group. I've dm'd for a lot of different games but this would be my first for anima. Sounds like you would be a go to source if I had questions ^_^
Heya! This looks interesting! My skype is ferelonshaderoot. Message me when you can!
so not gonna lie i tried my hand at running this game but i could never do it cause it was a bit of a challenge to run it. hopefully if you'll allow perhaps I can take part as a player in this. I've never been a player in this game system so it will be interesting to see how it turns out
When I finish setting up the table, I'll be inviting from this thread first, so being a player shouldn't be a problem. :)
What sort of character would you be interested in playing in a quasi medieval setting with magic available?
I'd probably go warrior, be brave, fight stuff, etc. :D
I'm pretty familiar with the crunch of this game through various experiences but I've never had to play within the games own established setting If there's a spot still available I'm interested in playing a Tao or a Technician Mercenary type with a lot of wanderlust Depending on the setting I might get a little more in depth with the background Though I've got this character on hold who's a run away from a Shaman/Priest clan/order, which can be modified to suit the setting
Good ideas. Definitely will make fighting things a thing. Will the order require the faith to be something other than the one God and no magic faith that currently is the most common  in the world?
Wanted to try this out for some time. I even have all the Books IRL. What days and time would you play.
Interest is good enough so most likely game dates would be one of the following nights in est: Tuesday Wednesday Thursday or sunday.
Hmm...I have a pretty wide selection. Admittedly, I could PM Levitos, and we could Run our GM Friendly Characters (One Identifies Lore and is a Living Plot-hook, the Other is Tied to Order and Fortune, in such a way that she causes Plot-hooks to happen through Accelerated Causality...Anima is fun)
My Skype is KazmodeusVeinslayer, Even if I don't end up as a Player, please, feel free to Add me, as I do love providing Advice on the system and Helping out.

Hello! I am one of Lucia's group members. I've had roughly a year or two-ish of experience with the system, mostly has a player rather than a GM though. I've played Summoners, Psionics, and have minor experience with Ki. The character I played the most was Ashlynn Blunt, An Ex-Privateer turned into a conspirator through luck and...being given alot of cash. I've only GM'd one game myself (Ongoing for Lucia and another fellow named Levitos) and has for the setting I think it would be interesting although I'm not sure what I would play, might do more Ki related stuff honestly.  If you want to, contact me through Skype: BloodDemon909
I have skype and can use it if that's the preferred method, but discord is easier for me if that's alright.
Hello there! I have a pretty wide stable of characters I love to play, and some that I've only built, but never experienced. I have a pretty broad understanding of a dozen systems or so, and am a student of game design (my characters tend to be a bit efficient as a result, so feel free to express concerns and I'll be more than willing to adjust downwards as you see fit). That said, I'm also extremely helpful if you need someone to bounce ideas off of about a mechanic or house-rule you're thinking about implementing for those exact same reasons. In a quasi-fantasy setting I've got a couple different characters I could run. I have the most experience making Dominus characters (the Ars magnus just really help make for interesting powers). Martial artists are somewhat of a forte of mine, although I've made a few psykers and mages as well. My favorite power archetypes go from Martial Artist > Ars Magnus user > Invoker > Psyker. I might be tempted to run either an Ars Magnus user, or an Invoker/Incarnationist (the incarnation system in Arcana Exxet is REALLY REALLY cool and full of flavor. It's totally worth checking out).
Interest is booming suddenly....must be holidays.
