Player LFG, Dresden Files or Any FATE System Game

As the title implies, I'm interested in getting into a Dresden Files game, or really any RPG that uses the awesome FATE rule set (Legends of Anglerre, Starblazer, etc.) I'm currently running a Cthulhu game on Wednesdays using a modified version of the Dresden rules, and I was planning on starting a Dresden game when my current game is done... but the player bug has bitten and I really want to get into a game! I wouldn't mind switching out with the GM at some point in the future if a stable gaming group develops. Maybe we could alternate people in the GM seat between adventures? It's an option. I have a few friends who could join, depending on what type of game starts up. I'm free most evening after 5 PM CST, except for Wednesday which is when I run my Cthulhu game.
I am game. Are you following Fate Core Kickstarter? It is the most recent version of Fate and the rules are lighter and easier to catch. And I am planning to run a game using this rule set, but let me gather a game group to talk about what the players want and make it fit in what I want to run
Yeah, I've had my eye on Fate Core. Easier accessibility is rarely a bad thing! Did you have some game ideas in mind (to maybe start narrowing the selection down,) or are you going to wait for group suggestions on that?
Never played but I'm always interested in trying new things :3 (plus I loved the Dresden Files show may have no affiliation but I still liked it), anywhere I can download a PDF of a rulebook or such?
I am seriously thinking about run 2 games: 1)YA/Urban fantasy game using the Stormcallers magical style. More or less what if you just found you had the power to channel a slice of the primordial storms energy and with that you figured the world is waaay weirder than you used to wonder, and we are not talking about the university which you just enrolled. 2)Torchwood - a game set at Doctor Who universe, but with a very dark tone because you are part of Torchwood, the world's premier alien/strange things hunters secret agency.
Force2reckon, you can get the Fate Core draft for a single buck at this address http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/evilhat/fate-core But I recommend you invest 10 dollars or more because they are giving a lot of things beyond the game rulebook
Sorry for the slow response. While I am a Dr Who fan... A modern fantasy game like Stormcallers sounds interesting. (Maybe that's Dresden Files talking again.) Who else is interested in this?
I can start the Stormcallers game with 2 players, but the ideal group is a 5 persons group. Before we begin the game we can start with the game style chat and city building. That would save a ton of time
I would love to get in on a Dresden Files RPG game
Well, I am willing to run Stormcallers, I don't like some settings you have everything but the kitchen sink avaiable to play, and the luddite magic from the setting doesn't please me. Sometimes this magic and magicians don't match with technology seems a bad excuse to make Dresden into a noir detective.
I would argue that Dresden's antiquated attitude of chivalry toward the woman constantly coming and going in the story does more for the pulp noir atmosphere than the technology destruction. But that's neither here nor there. I was trying to look up Stormcallers, but the term is ubiquitous and I couldn't find out what you were specifically referencing. You explained enough that I know I'm interested, but I would like to look up more details. Have a link?
Storm Callers is a very brief setting which came with Fate Core Toolkit chapter insert during Fate Core KS. The basic idea is quite simple. Out of our reality there are an elemental storm full of energy, both positive and negative. The game proposal is something closer to Young Adult's Urban Fantasy novels. The protagonists are "young" (18 to 29 years old) people who are under a severe change period at their lives.People which are living at a metaphorical storm, where nothing is solid or stable and what was trustful and normal became a minefield. They were plain persons which due the severe changes who attuned the Elemental Storm energies for an unknow reason so far. The Storm energies inside them did not change them into what we could say persons sensible to the global cyclic changes but it had open the doors to the secret world, a civilization inside our civilization, where magic is real and powerful. A place where the plain persons someday dreamed but few ones had survived to tell the stories about the generation of Brazilain Super Models are part of the elven nation of Hy Braesil, the last high school mass murderer was a kindergarden teacher possessed by a Preta spirit after she got completely disapointed with her job and Free Masons are the real guardians of mankind they hold the blessed weapons of the Crusaders. That is the base of my idea based on what appeared at Fate Core Toolkit's Magic chapter. I hope you like. I don't mind start the game with a small group and add more during the game.
Sounds interesting, got back to checking this out after the KS closed so there goes that :P, I'd love to try it but it probably wouldn't go well unless you used voice communications via skype or something else to meet before the first session a few times to pound out characters and rules and stuff so people understand it who are new (like me)
I'm interested in a Dresden game. I've run four or five sessions of Dresden, but stopped because the players didn't like the FATE System. Would definitely like the chance to be a PC. Sunday is best for me, but everyday after 5:30 (I'm also CST) would be cool, too. Except Tuesday which is when I play Dungeon World. Thank you! Z
How about we organize a meeting Monday 25th at 7pm cst? We could talk about the game, what do you expect from this game and when we can meet to do the character sheets
I can make it to that meeting
Here is the Stormcallers enroll room https://app.roll20.net/join/83444/LTu4UA
I'm in for the Monday meeting.
