[LF1M] D&D 4e - Tradewinds of Montoia

Greetings and salutations! I've had one go MIA and am looking to fill the seat. Next session is Feb 10, Sunday @ 3pm PST (GMT -8). Want to know more? Please continue reading. **How often will we play?** For this game, I'm mixing in elements of old school style play via PBP (play by post) to do all the odds-and-ends stuff RP wise away from the table and using R20 to handle the majority of combat. We will be meeting bi-weekly to game. It will still be up to the players to keep tabs with the campaign forum. **How many players are you looking for?** In need of just one player. Currently, we have 4 signed up. They are: Akhin - Dwarven Runepriest (leader) Fin - Dwarven Brawler (defender) Adrie - Half-elf Hexblade (striker) Erik - Human Paladin (defender) (Need a class that can do AoE damage!) **What's the campaign starting level?** We're starting at level 1. Please see the character build guidelines at the campaign website (link posted below). **What's your DM style like?** An excellent question. My style is that of a blend of storyteller/explorer. This means that my games usually follow a set progression of a series of events that leads to a big climatic finish, but not nearly so linear that players do not ever get a chance to explore the world they exist in. Basically, you are welcomed (and encouraged) to do whatever it is your character would like to do. It may come back to bite you or work to your benefit later. This does tend to make the game longer than most, so prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to think long term if you wish to join this game. **What will the campaign be like?** The world I have selected will actually be of my own design and is loosely based off of Romance of the Three Kingdoms (look up your history if you don't know what that is). Currently, the campaign setting is in an era of peace. Open trade and commerce within the lands of Montoia are experiencing the greatest amount of freedoms ever in recorded history. Civilization is flourishing from an abundance of available goods and resources. Travel between the city-states is still highly dangerous as much of the land remains uncharted and unsettled. Hiring adventurer guilds to help guard supply lines or to clear out "infestations" of dangerous monsters is common. There's plenty of wealth and fame to be had for those bold enough to make fortune favor upon them. Players will be starting out as a new initiate of the Burnquist Adventuring Company, one of the lesser known companies within the city-state of Ivania. **Will there be any use of additional gaming resources?** Yes. As hinted above earlier for PBP play, we'll be using EpicWords as our home for the campaign. Forums, wiki, loot and xp, ect. will all be kept track there. For combat scenarios, a microphone is needed for voice communication in order to speed up play. Here is the link for the campaign website: http://www.epicwords.com/twom **Is there anything else I should know about applying?** As of the time of the writing, no. If anybody asks a question not addressed already from the information above, I will be amending this post with the answer. **This sounds great! How do I apply?** Send me a message via the Inbox with a brief background as to how you came to be employed with the Burnquist Adventuring Company. I would also need a character sheet. Please note that cannot accept anything from Mythweavers or D&D Insider (I do not have a subscription). A character file from your DDI account and placed into iPlay4e would be acceptable. **How will I know if I've been invited to join?** I will be informing you via private message and sending you information where you can meet up with the rest of the group. Thanks for reading and happy gaming!
Hello! My character is Adrie Steelsong. She is of noble blood on her mother's side. Her father came into great wealth as a master blacksmith whose skill rivals dwarvish craft. Her elvish mother is renown for a stunning singing voice. Having always felt overshadowed by her parents' accomplishments, when offered the chance to wield a feyblade she accepted it and left home seeking adventure. She does not yet know the price of her blade or much of the world's harshness. She took the name Steelsong so her noble birth might go unnoticed, and she hopes to make that name famous in its own right. That is how she came to Burnquist Adventuring Company. Despite her immaturity she has some skill, though it requires polishing. I hope you'll be interested in gaming together! I am relatively new, having only started playing a year and a half ago. Please get back to me soon. Often Late Kate
Added two new players to the roster. (That was quick!) We're pretty much full with an exception for the right build if it is presented. ^_^
Was one of them mine? :)
I would love to get in on this... and would be willing to play a ranged striker type of character. Couple of things, though... 1. I'm a complete newbie to D&D and Tabletop RPGs in general. Would this be a group/DM that is tolerant and willing to help an eager, fledgling adventurer? 2. Because of #1, I don't have much knowledge in building a character. I know character descriptions and such (as I have done a plethora of PBP before), but not much in the mechanics side of the game to get the most out of my character. As I said, I would love to get in on this. The date of play is ideal, and the group sounds awesome (from a character POV). I do have Fri-Sun available, as well as Skype, so if the DM/anyone in the group would be willing to spare some time to sit down with me before the game to hash out my character and give me some pointers, I'd seriously love that. But that's if you'll have me. ;D
I don't think anyone would mind. I'm new, and I believe one or two others are as well. We do have 5 people at the moment, so I'll leave it up to Tsriel to make the decision.
1st session done, and a good game it was. I've got an opening for one player.
