I had an idea for Next Year revolving around certain game lines that are made to be played together, like Chronicles/World of Darkness or the 40k RPG game lines. The idea is for a group of GMs to be able to join together into a Clan or Guild, organized by game line, and said group would be able to sink money in together to be able to purchase map packs that they can share. Of course, this would double or even triple the cost to make it still worth it to Map Pack creators to continue working together on their creations, and said map packs would only be usable for games registered with that Guild/Clan that purchased it as long as they chipped in the money for it. For example, I am trying to start a Warhammer 40k mega-campaign to test the feasibility of even putting such a group together. Lets say I had gathered 4 other GMs for it and registered it as a Clan/Guild. For a crossover game, we needed a frozen cave and chipped in for Gabriel Pickard's Save Vs Cave: Ice Caves ( https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/set/1300/sav... ). Together, instead of having to pay 5 dollars a piece for it together (or trying to , we would each put together $2.50 each for it. The set would be usable by the members of the group that would pay out that $2.50 for it, BUT the ones who don't put in the cash for it do not get to use it in their game. Same with GMs that later join into a guild. For another example, I join GM A's World of Darkness Clan/Guild as a GM for a Sabbat Story, and they had purchased all of the Brass Badger Games Modern/Dystopi line of map packs, I would not get access to those map packs for my game i'd run for the Clan/Guild until i'd sink my $2.50 for each one. After such a Clan/Guild would disband, a GM would be kicked out, or if a GM decides to start an Out of Clan/Guild game and would want the pack, the money the GMs pumped into Map Packs for the Clan/Guild would not be lost, though. It would be applied towards purchasing the map packs for themselves. For example, visiting the Ice Caves 40k RPG example, I would decide to also run a D&D X edition and would want to use the Ice Caves map for it to be a White Dragon Lair, I would then pay the other $2.49 for the map pack for my exclusive use. I propose this in the hopes of bringing together GMs into a more cooperative capacity for greater entertainment, to further encourage GMs to buy pro subscriptions, and to keep the GMs that are currently cooperating together from bootlegging maps from these packs so that cash can continue to flow into the pockets of the Map Pack Creators while allowing new ones to get their names out to the community easier.
